Have you considered doing something acrylic like MFLB ships stock? A little tougher than glass, I don't know how that would factor into manufacturing but I enjoyed my acrylic for the MFLB.

This was kind of my line of thinking when talking about loading the chamber. Understandable it would cool off if you put too much in but I'm fairly sure you would have to have a slight divider layer in order to get a simulation of vaporizing temp during use.

Another thing you might try is to completely load it and measure the temp right below the herb as it may affect pressure in the chamber and allow for higher temps when air pulls through? Just a thought I'm not sure if that would produce more accurate results.
