Are you not getting an efficient draw? A small gap shouldn't make that big a difference since the actual vapor path through the bowl has a much larger volume.

I've never noticed this to be a problem. The cap keeps the j-hook at an angle which prevents the weed from dumping into the top.

Yea, I notice a big difference between the performance of different type of waterpipes. The sidecars and bubblers that work so well with my portables just don't satisfy when I use them with the FP. I like this one which is similar to the one offered on the NV site.
