    Discontinued The Grasshopper

A little bit of my luck has run out. My oldest SS Hopper, purchased in July 2016, is now showing sensor error ("cop lights"). I'm not too upset since it has seen pretty steady usage for nearly 3 years. I have a StemPod and this is the main reason that I don't use it anymore. In wattage mode...

I always forget the correct spelling - it is actually Blu Tack. https://www.amazon.com/Bostik-Mastic-Adhesive-approx-801103/dp/B00I42EOJE/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=Blu+Tack&qid=1554509018&s=gateway&sr=8-5

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

I have four Hoppers in rotation. Two are used almost daily, the other two are used a couple of times per week. My oldest is from 2016. I've had one back end "freeze up" on me, meaning I could not turn the temp dial anymore. HL replaced it for me before I sent the broken one back (received the...

I thought the magnet suggestion was the best. Computer repair tool kits usually come with a telescoping magnet tool to extract screws from hard to reach places. Seems to me like that would be your best approach.

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

My experience is somewhat different. I use the internal charger 99% of the time. I only swap batteries once a week, when I clean the back end threads with BlueTack. I remove residue on the back end threads each time I clean them. It still builds up even though I don't swap the battery between...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

My Hoppers all tick. Sometimes it's more noticeable than other times, but it's always audible if I listen closely. A lot of posters seem to be concerned about the ticking noise. I understand that this noise is actually one of the reasons that the Grasshopper got its name. My Pavlovian response...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

My first Hopper was a SS model purchased in July 2016. Recently the temp dial became stuck and would not turn at all. I received a replacement back end from HL just before Christmas 2018. The old SS body coupled with the new SS back end now runs hotter than the original, and significantly hotter...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

I have an SS Hopper that I purchased in July of 2016. Recently the temp dial became stuck and would not turn at all. I opened an RMA and requested that a new back end be shipped to me before I sent the broken one back. I actually received the new back end only a couple of days after opening the...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

I consider all of my Hoppers to be working to my satisfaction, but I still get the occasional first hit that is not what it should be. Second hit is always up to par. It happens pretty rarely and, like you, I do not know what causes it. Others have described it as well. It seems like the heater...

    StemPod by MPL

The Tubo stem holds the S&B dosing capsule well - nice fit. The stem fits snugly in the SP without the o-ring. I don't know if it's the stem setup or if it's my SP settings, but I get uneven heating of the load with lots of charred bits mixed with green bits. If I stir the load I can get more...

    StemPod by MPL

Does anyone use the stock glass stem without the o-ring? I've been using a wooden stem that I got from lamart.ch along with an SB dosing capsule. I removed the o-ring. I felt like trying the original glass stem again but found that it was too loose without the o-ring. The stem will not even...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

I have posted about this Ti Hopper before. It don't think that it came that way but I can't be sure. When I got it I put the battery in it and powered it on a few times without any issues. I took the battery out and stuck it in the drawer. I would say that it developed the residue on the...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

Can only be pure luck. I don't know or do anything that nobody else knows or does. :hmm: I had one brand new Ti Hopper which I kept in a drawer for months. When I took it out and stuck a battery in it, it wouldn't turn on at all. I cleaned the back end threads with Blu Tack and got it working...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

Thursdays are now officially my "Blu Tack the Hoppers" day. :) I have four working Hoppers. None of them have ever required an RMA. All of them work to my satisfaction. All of them seem to work a little better after the Blu Tack cleaning (faster heat up times, better vapor production). A good...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

I'm going to start cleaning my GH threads with Blu-Tack more often. It's not a cure-all, but my Hoppers definitely seem to work a lot better after the cleaning...for a while anyway. Shorter heat-up times, better heater performance, bigger clouds, better extraction. My Ti units also seem to...

Flower vs Dabbing in relation to a healthier choice

I vape both flower and oil. I mainly use a Grasshopper for flower and a Pax Era for oil. I feel that vaping flower is "healthier" because it uses much lower temps. I think I have my Pax Era set at around 700 F, whereas the Grasshopper doesn't exceed 410 F. I feel greater irritation in my lungs...

    StemPod by MPL

I replaced my Eleaf iStick Pico + heat sink setup with a Joyetech eVic Primo 2.0 because I suspected that the heat sink was causing problems with temperature control. I just could not get the Stempod to behave consistently. Sometimes it would reach temperature and the Pico would "pulse" the...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

I've never tried DeOxit and I never will, based on the Hopper Labs recommendation not to put "any other substance" on the threads or back end. Blu-Tack works well for me. You're not actually applying a substance to the threads, just using it to pick up the residue.

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

Also note that the information regarding the use of De-Oxit was removed from the "Grasshopper Fixes" thread on 12/1/2016: I think that cleaning the back end threads with Blu-Tack can be helpful in certain circumstances, but the residue on the threads is not always associated with performance...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

I don't believe that everything has to do with the body. I think the back end has its share of problems too. Have either of you tried a thorough cleaning of the back end threads with Blu-Tack (both on the back end and in the body where the back end screws in)? And a light sanding or cleaning...
