Once the units warmed up while it is on the mod slowly twist the wood off of the base. I know it is tight but it is designed to come off. Keeping it on the mod makes it easier for me.

The temp will keep rising after you pull the flame off so your color will change accordingly if you're doing it by hand. Stop a little before and clean all the oil and finger prints off or it leaves a pattern.
