I am surprised to hear that the battery area is not completely sealed...especially since GHL at one point said they were really proud of their air path...

Does the US enforce the fines for the UK? I can't imagine any company without an international precense in the country really caring about foreign fines from the UK. That being said, like you mentioned, why should GHL break the law to save others a few bucks.

Selection bias is a real thing and you are right that it happens often. However, that does not explain how someone could be on their fourth unit...especially since @nonbeliever had one that lasted many months then quick fails afterwards for the next three. That speaks to a bigger issue...

Yea, GHL not receiving these parts on the estimated date kinda reminds me of when we get told to expect shipment in a certain month and then it is delayed...

If they get all the parts to fulfill all existing orders like they say, then I assume that included heaters. It's a big if, but if true, then the only bottlenecks are assembly, testing and shipping. (Plus fixing broken units...)

It is my bday and I am using my bday wish to wish for tonight's update to say that all backers and pre-orders get their grasshopper shipped tomorrow. I don't think my wish is coming true :( (but I can dream)

This line of thinking gets posted after every ship date bump...I used to hope for that, but now I know it is a false hope...

Where/how are you coming up with these numbers? Based on order numbers, there are less than 8k or so and probably less than that...they start at 12000 and the highest reported one is in the 19000 range.

The unrealistic expectations came from the unrealistic statements from GHL...remember the 1000/wk at the end of July statement...we didn't make that up, it came directly from GHL. That being said, I am very excited to get one and haven't lost faith in GHL to deliver a great product that I will...

Yes, very true, though, who knows how many boards they got with the old software and if this really is a big issue for most users vs saving battery life and how much thought went into it. It probably would be a 1.01 or greater change like you said. I hope that it can detect a soft enough pull...

While changing the software might seem easy, getting it on the unit may not be. We don't know how they are loading the software and what type of memory it is. It could be write once memory and then soldered to the board, which could require a new shipment of boards. I don't seem them doing...
