The only thing I can think of is if some flower or ABV drops into the cavity. Easy enough to clean out by flipping it or using a long q-tip. Mine actually smell quite pleasant after applying some beeswax.

Thirded. I don't use my FC-187 v1 due to the mouthpiece and the perc weld collecting debris. GB-187 I use almost every day.
