The bottom where the battery is stored get's very hot to the touch. I am using Samsung 25r's. Cut off is at 5 minutes if I'm hitting it or not. Is there anyway to keep it alive longer?

How long does an elbow last?

No, haven't mastered the whip but should be fun to experiment. My guess would be to preheat on fan 3, load bowl, wait a couple of minutes, place fan on 1 and hit the whip. How do you do it?
