IME, if you've taken a bunch of hits at lower temps, going above 185ºC only makes sense if you want to get every last bit out of the load (flower, not hash); those final hits range from meh to nasty, taste-wise.

I kind of enjoy problem solving, so fwiw: if you could in fact bend the ears of the lid so it grips the crucible, and if you have pre-loaded crucibles (with bent lid ears), and you don't want to wait or blow on the hot crucible, you could go the vapcap route and use a magnet to remove the spent...
