I never measured specific amounts, but the fatty wand does hold much more material than the standard wand.

I think it's just the way they assemble the Hydratubes, but it does indeed help prevent any water going down the joint. I couldn't say whether or not the fact that it helps prevent spillage is intentional or not. Hurray for bentnecks though!

Have you used a Q-Tip dipped in Iso ? It's worked for me everytime. It's a bit easier if it's still a little warm. You can always try the Magic Eraser too.

They do that intentionally to ensure a good fit. I accidentally flattened a bend on a shim I had once, and could notice that my heater cover was a bit looser, still worked no problem, it would just slide a little bit. I would leave it how it is.

I always make sure to give my pieces a long (12-24 hour) soak in Grunge Off (GO) right after smoking. I make sure to wipe the joint of whatever piece very well with Q-Tips that had GO on them, and I also wipe the outside of the tube with GO too. Keeps the glass like new, so there's no problem...

With out too much to go off of from their pics it looks just like how the valves in a hookah work. When you're inhaling the force pulls the ball up allowing air to pull out. If the hose isn't being used then the ball just sits over the hole.
