no, I have never removed anything on my volcano. and to get the most dense vapour I have found that using the metal puck works best whether you fill the chamber or not. I get less bag refills with the puck but each bag is thicker vapour, especially the first bag. My bags only last me 3-4...

you might be right, more testing is necessary.

like others have stated, too fine of a grind doesn't produce as thick vapor as a more coarse grind.
