You could also run it by a jeweler. They should have a scope for checking it out.

instead of glitter you could use a single drop of food coloring and slow motion video. Or you could fill the piece with mineral oil and and then use colored mineral oil in the down stem. Let me talk to my friend who makes videos and see if he has any recommendations.

It could be graphite coming off of their tools. US made tools are super expensive, but they don't break down. The Chinese tools we used at school always left bits of grit all over everything.

I figured they were doing the work by species of woods so I would get mine whenever they got to it. I'm just glad I don't have to sand it because I have severe reactions to some wood species.

I clean my atomizer with PBW. There's a thread on it. It's as simple as unscrewing the parts and boiling water After a 10 minute soak. I scrape what's left out and then rinse it clean. Worst part is seating a new screen.
