    Discontinued The Grasshopper

I notice that people seem shocked that their units have been 15 months in repair. My first unit was in repair 18 months and sent back broken. They promised to fix it in 3 weeks, and did (which adds insult to injury), but now it is broken again. My second unit has been there for 19 months now...

    DaVinci MIQRO

My 2¢ — I think, and I hope you'll learn to enjoy the Miqro more as you use it. I've heard many people talk about the issue of draw, and what I came to realize was that in reality it takes almost no suction to pull the relatively small amount of vapor across the 1.5 inch path. If one could draw...

    DaVinci MIQRO

No, the MIQRO is pure conduction. The heat is generated by the side walls of the ceramic chamber. It works well because ceramic transmits heat well. And the vapor is cooler for the same reason - the shaft through which the vapor travels is also ceramic, dissipating the heat.

    DaVinci MIQRO

I've wanted to try such an arrangement, as I do suspect it would work very effectively. But I've never had an opportunity to. I've tried forming the bottom screen into a "dome" shape to achieve that very end, but it was too much of a PITA. If I found (or if Da Vinci) made such a screen, I can...

    DaVinci MIQRO

I can help with these two. I use a small screen at the bottom of the oven, and it does help stop debris. Cleaning is very easy as a result, and the flat mouthpiece never gets occluded with bits of material. I only use the flat mouthpiece, but I've used both and neither gets hot to the touch.

    DaVinci MIQRO

Cleaning - not an issue. It's easy to keep the MIQRO spotless all the time. I'm not sure what you mean by heat. As for small quantities, I hear you. I prefer devices that let me put as much or as little into the chamber as I want, and remain effective. The MIQRO, as you suspect, works best when...

    DaVinci MIQRO

I'm going to cut to the chase: You're a Grasshopper owner, so surely you're aware of the issues. Like many, I currently have not one, but two units in repair, one for more than a year. I could go on, but if you're interested in hopper horror stories, you know where to look. That said, I ADORED...

    DaVinci MIQRO

I've never dealt with their CS, but if they say you need to send it back for repair, I would ask for a replacement. I'm sure it can't be that onerous a request. At the same time, I'd ask if there's a DIY suggestion. They may have a special adhesive or the like that they can send you, rather than...

    DaVinci MIQRO

I've never tried it, but it would suggest a clog in that inaccessible rubber gasket, due likely to residue. I think the electronics are well-isolated and it shouldn't be a worry, but perhaps others have thoughts. Good luck!

    DaVinci MIQRO

First, have you thoroughly cleaned the mouthpiece and rubber gasket that holds it in? I prefer the flat mouthpiece and I find it clogs easily. I actually bought a spare so I could switch one out on the fly if need be. If you're using the long mouthpiece and all that is clear, and you've cleaned...

    DaVinci MIQRO

Yes, this looks exactly right to me. This is a good review in general. I was afraid that my previous post sounded a bit too vague and abstract ("when you know, you'll know...) and I didn't mean it to be. When the guy in the video says that long draws are counterproductive, he's picking up on the...

    DaVinci MIQRO

I was bothered by this, because I initially felt the way you did, but now know better. However, I didn't want to go into any long explanations here. Instead, let me assure you of two things. First, no, the MIQRO does not produce huge, billowy, voluminous clouds. Second, it does what it's...

    DaVinci MIQRO

Hope you enjoy the MIQRO (and yes, PIU is an exceptional company). But I had no issues with sharp edges. Part of the allure when I first held it was how smooth and seamless the satin finish felt. There was nothing sharp or aggressive about it. I wonder if it is something unusual about your unit...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

It is something we're understandably unwilling to talk about, but the company, as such, is likely done, and has been for a while. It seems to be selling a number of new units as fast as it can make them (which isn't very) in order to attempt to keep alive some sort of user base, so that it can...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

I would just add one essential step to this regimen. It's critically important, otherwise the rest will not work: Be exceedingly lucky. I mean, like charmed - like, you should be buying lottery tickets regularly. If you add this one step, you are sure to have a properly working Grasshopper...

    DaVinci MIQRO

I'm experimenting with an arrangement similar to that shown here for now [https://image.ibb.co/daqAzf/miqro-micro-screen.jpg] [Use the "pearl" to outline the shape on a standard thin screen and cut around the outer edge. Curve gently, insert]. It seems to work well and has the added advantage...

    DaVinci MIQRO

Here's what I found: I've had my MIQRO for a week and have been learning more (and appreciating more) all the while. But I thought that it was mysterious that the draw occasionally got much harder. I happen to prefer the flat mouthpiece. I cleaned it all once, just as a matter of course, and...

    DaVinci MIQRO

Is it inadvisable to try a 1200 mAh 18350 battery with the MIQRO? Thanks.

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

Too soon to draw a proper conclusion, but so far it is fulfilling everything I looked to the GH for. Here's the ironic thing - I did a lot of research, as one does, and Da Vinci seems to have a reputation for build and reliability that is 180 degrees opposed to that of Hopper Labs'. It is...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

Right now they seem to have trouble even answering simple mail. I'm afraid it's not looking good for them at the moment. In fact, I just picked up a MIQRO because it's unclear I'll have anything ultraportable for a while with 2 GHs in the great beyond.
