If your smeller is quite sensitive and you put your nose right up to it, you can smell a trace near the mouthpiece, but nowhere else. In my opinion the smell factor for this device is definitely negligible to smell-free. If you know the Airvape X, that is far, far more fragrant when not in use...

No apology necessary, K!! This is all in the spirit of exploration. My only experience with the Firefly is the first version, which I sort of enjoyed from time to time, but found incredibly problematic and ultimately gave it away. It had some outstanding characteristics and the design (my field)...

Not sure where you're getting that the Airvape X is a convection device. It isn't. I do wish Apollo provided better technical information. While I appreciate your very careful explanation I think there is still some dispute about how to qualify the way the Legacy operates. I disagree, and...

I may be wrong, but I suspect that if you explained this all to Apollo they'd send you a replacement. You shouldn't have to go through such machinations.

I agree with you on all points (the $250 is a judgment call — having worked out on mine for a week I think the $250 price point is about right, but Airvape/Apollo still offers various promos if you go looking). In particular, I agree with your last point. Having been through the miserable...

I tried a loose half-filling today and performance was outstanding. In fact, a half-full crucible at low temperature seems about ideal in most cases. I'm not sure the basket was ever necessary, but I'm still exploring. I should add that filling the bowl to the max allows you to keep the airpath...

Trix, are you trying to use the basket? There's no way I've been able to get that to work, and I was mystified at first because I got nothing. If you're not trying to use the basket (which is problematic), then it's possible you have a bad unit. The device is stealthy on first hit, but that's...

I respectfully disagree with your assessment on this point. Though we've yet to see a teardown of this device, my take on why you get nothing when using the basket is that the seal is breached. OTOH, I have noted that without using the basket, when I kill the heat the vapor vanishes in under a...

The more hours I spend with the Legacy, and the more I learn about the way it operates, the more enthusiastic I'm becoming. That should be encouraging to those still waiting for theirs. Things that I didn't get at first now appear to be very thoughtful and effective, and the device delivers well...

For me it seals visibly. Door does not appear ajar. But I get nothing, so there is a breach of path somewhere.

There are a few too many silicone gaskets imo, and they'll require attention at least once/week. The airpath intake will always be a bit less than perfect because of difficulty accessing it. Most of it is much easier. I think they've got a reasonably descriptive Youtube on it.

Just received. My initial surprises — hope you'll find useful. "Airpath filter" appeared to be sort of rammed in, possibly misshapen. It was fine, but learned that removing/installing this piece is a clumsy pain. Second, although the micro-basket appeared to fit perfectly, I tried that first...

Most purchasers should have received a mea culpa message around now. To those who were troubled by the delays and lack of response I'd urge patience. I dealt with the Grasshopper from its earliest crowd-funding days, and that debacle makes this look like NASA's finest moment by comparison...

    Discontinued Hopper io

I've been away from here for a while (mainly because the GH experience is 90+% frustration), but I wonder if anyone can tell me if Hopper Labs has just stopped responding to older RMAs. I have had one of my units with them since late 2018. In January they sent me a weird note saying that I could...

Has anyone heard any recent rumors on a release date? It's now mid-May. Patience is my middle name, but it never hurts to ask.

My understanding (I pre-ordered) is that they are saying in unqualified terms that the Legacy is pure convection. My intuition is that they looked at the faults of the Firefly's design and applied themselves to correcting them. It's nothing more than a stab in the dark, but I'm anticipating...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

If you want to send your GH for repair, write to the support address, and they will instruct you. You will wait indefinitely to get it back. I got one back (broken) after it was with them 1.5 years. When I got it back in that condition I told them, and they said they would get it back to me...

    Discontinued The Grasshopper

Incidentally, if my sarcasm didn't come across, in pointing out that "excellent pictures ... have gone live" I was saying that the actual device hasn't. I expect it will become a reality right around when I get back my second GH, which was in "repair" for 1.5 years, and apparently lost in the...

Nothing wrong with passion and enthusiasm, but let me make clear, I don't wish misfortune on _anyone_, and I'm not being fanatical. When someone guarantees a product, then doesn't honor that guarantee, it is simply wrong by any reasonable standard. When they don't honor the guarantee and tell...
