@Azn2101 don't worry about payment until I finish you're stems, I'll have the replacement glass soon and should have at least a couple down this weekend (fingers crossed) I think I've also come up with a method to keep air from going around the elb even if it's not right up against the glass...

    Monkeyhouse stems

New update! I've put in a few more hours on the torch today and yesterday and banged out a few new stems. Unfortunately (I feel like I use that word a lot) there were a few casualties and I have have 3 19/19 stems right now, one of which is a short stem as I goofed on the third hole and this...

    Monkeyhouse stems

@pxl_jockey Those are actually really good ideas I hadn't thought of. Currently I want to get through a few more batches of these 18mm stems and really get the design down because right now my tungsten pick is still leaving residue on the glass so I need to figure out some way to get rid of...

Another great name! I think chain link is a great way to describe these stems, I may just have to use that moving forward.

@Azn2101 "The cooling house" has a nice ring to it but for now I'm just using my legal name as my business name as I don't have to register it. Maybe down the line I'll change it. I do have an Instagram under the name cragglass but I honestly can't stand social media and quickly abandoned it...

    Monkeyhouse stems

Hello everyone, thought I'd make a quick update. I got my wet saw all set up this morning and the new glass came in last night. Turns out I didn't order thicker glass, just unground joints... Oops. These new stems are Accugrind brand which are 100% American made and have very strict tolerances...

    Monkeyhouse stems

Thanks man, I appreciate it, is does have some minor cooling as the walls expand and contract a few times along the length of the stem. Unfortunately it's just for show as I didn't melt the frit in all the way so there are some loose pieces of glass in there, I plan to revisit it at some point...

    Monkeyhouse stems

@lazylathe That is a neat idea if I'm understanding it correctly. Once I get this design down I may grab some glycerin and try my hand at it, I'll be sure to let you know if I ever do. I'm always willing to experiment with new ideas and I'm already visualizing how this could be accomplished.

    Monkeyhouse stems

Hi everyone, I'm looking to start making my own cooling stems to offer to you fine people for what I hope will be seen as a reasonable price. I have several ideas and have made several mock ups for vapes that accept 18mm and 14mm joints. I'm making this thread to be able to update you all easily...

Cooling stems for Splinter, Stempod, Tubo, Lil Bud, Mil

Here's a picture of some cooling stems I'm working on next to an Xl8r for size comparison.

@DDave no problem! Love your products. Also for anyone who's curious of what the stems look like here's a picture of them with an Xl8r for size comparison.

I'm not saying all cooling stems are over priced, just the Xl8r, Ddave's and 420 EDC's stems are appropriately priced in my opinion. I have been working the past few weeks on some different cooling designs in that I would like to be in the $20-30 range when finally done and some cheaper options...

Yes you do, but kilns can be as cheap as $500 or as expensive as $5,000. And torches can be found for less than $200, which is all that's needed to make an Xl8r, or as expensive as $5,000. I've talked about the cost of running these earlier in this thread as well. All in all the cost of making...

Here's a link to the glass he is most likely using, https://www.mountainglass.com/German-Male-19-26-Bistabil-Joint-130mm-200 , as you can see the price varies for less that $2 per joint to $2.75 depending on the quantities he's buying. And as an amateur glass blower myself I think I have a...

@Vision103 As I mentioned in a later post, he is running a small company and has seen some rough times in the past year or so, but you will never see any small time glass blower charging $50 for a clear pipe that takes more time and effort to make than an Xl8r. Ryan's prices on his vapes are in...

The dosing capsules for the fierce fit in the stock rbt 19/19 stems. Some stems fit the dosing pods better than others. Alternatively lamart makes wooden stems that hold S&B capsules and you could put a domed screen in the capsules to reduce the amount of herb you need to put in them.

I've been considering it... I love my splinter Z and the Xl8r works great but the cost is crazy for what it is.

@KeroZen fair enough he has had some hard times and he does need to make the money back obviously, but for the amount of effort that is needed to make an Xl8r does not justify the cost. If they were $30 he would still be making quite the profit. I can hop on my torch and make an Xl8r in a minute...
