    OLD MATE (formerly Medgrind)

I just swabbed my OG grinder's post and bearing (after months of use) and the post was totally clean, but there was some black residue on the bearing. I can understand that ceramic could be more abrasive, but if the stainless steel is grinding away I would expect to find some residue on the post...

Does Cannabis mess with our natural “normal” brain rewarding system?

Interesting article, but I don't use Cannabis to relieve boredom, and I don't agree that it's use "makes the user more suitable for jobs that don’t require creativity or innovation".

If your bearing is ruined and you don't want to replace it yourself, perhaps you could ask Ben for assistance. I know he's busy, but he is very helpful, and if you're in Australia the postage won't be much.

I remember reading that @OMD couldn't replicate the black "metal shaving dust", but perhaps the gentle sliding on and off could wear the bearing's inner ring. I have often found a similar black deposit when cleaning other steel items that definitely suffer no wear, so I'm not sure.

And I wouldn't over-think the mould problem. Just a few seconds in contact with alcohol (70% or higher) will sterilise any surface and a simple iso swab should suffice.

    OLD MATE (formerly Medgrind)

You'll probably need to brush or wipe the teeth and upper surface to finish, dip once more in clean iso, then briefly in water if you like. I've used my Old Mate every day since the first general release and only cleaned the lid twice. And OM has a bearing press for $5 AUD, but it's currently...

    OLD MATE (formerly Medgrind)

Carefully sitting the teeth only in iso and q-tips for clean up is best, or removing the bearing for a full soak if you have the right tool and you're really fussy. I'm pretty sure there's no grease coming out of the bearing, but around the post does get a slight dark coating over time. It's...

Yes, it already happens. The massive bushfires in Australia a few years ago caused the temperature to drop a few degrees in America. I had just heard that the ocean temperatures both east and west of Australia are set to give us an especially hot, dry summer with a very high fire risk, with some...

    The Official CannaBreak Thread

0.1g before sleep is routine, with no hangover in the morning. 0.2g can get a bit trippy when I close my eyes, which is interesting but not helpful for falling asleep, and even then there is no hangover. Only edibles have left me with any effect the next day. I generally sleep soundly and wake...

    The Official CannaBreak Thread

I have used quite heavily for a long time and don't notice any memory loss or sleep disruption, and it actually helps me to forget about food (I eat well, but only once a day) although I don't drink any alcohol. I would suggest stopping alcohol before considering the effects of cannabis.

Music from the mid 60's to late 70's (when creative genius reigned..)

Among the pantheon of creative genii, there is Brian Eno. I lose interest in Roxy Music without Eno, but their first album is a classic. And Baby's on Fire (on his own classic Here Come the Warm Jets) with Robert Fripp's soaring guitar is an all time favourite.

Old S&B acrylic grinder safe to use?

The S&B grinder does a great job for a two piece, but I've never used it enough to know if wear is a problem. For safety and longevity I would prefer a metal grinder, and I've tried various aluminium and steel grinders (not the BCG) and the main problem I have found is they can quickly become...

Music from the mid 60's to late 70's (when creative genius reigned..)

Robert Wyatt never liked the Canterbury label since he was born in Bristol and lived near Dover as a teenager, only going to school in Canterbury. Wherever it may be produced, "the real essence of Canterbury Sound is the tension between complicated harmonies, extended improvisations, and the...

Music from the mid 60's to late 70's (when creative genius reigned..)

1973 - During a birthday party for Gong's Gilli Smyth in London, an inebriated Robert Wyatt fell from a fourth-floor window and broke his spine. Pink Floyd performed two benefit concerts in one day at London's Rainbow Theatre, supported by Soft Machine. He had begun drinking heavily while...
