I'm no expert but things tend to glow a little red when hot so I don't worry about it because unless I'm trying out some insane watts Dan has tested it all and if he feels its ok then thats good enough for me

I feel like you could leave it on for awhile or wash it and it would burn off and be good to go

I just run it at 35 watts and call it a day

Maybe put some anti seize on it, it must have got bound up or something when threading but thats just my 2 cents
