I ordered these 12mm ones and the VC doesn't fit. Also, the glass is so thin that if you're planning to drop your VC in, I'd put some cotton on the bottom. Or it may continue out the other end..?
A propane torch will work, that's what I was using. A very fine line from getting the lip to soften and round out, to glass distortion out of round. Not sure if thinner would be easier or harder to work with. I'm guessing the latter.
Thanks. Should be some feedback before long as all but one are shipped already.
That is really thin glass. I had found an alternative tube from FT as well. Pretty much identical to the one I posted before but this one is in stock. Have to admit, it's nice not having to cut and heat treat.
The gauge is only for battery level checking. Press the gauge's test button and 5 LEDs show the level for 5 seconds. To show the heater is on, the glass tube has LEDs which make it glow.
Good questions. The way I see it is, it comes down to battery educate which is basically the same with any battery of this type driven device.
When new it is recommended to do a complete charge and leave on charge for an extra few hours, followed by a complete discharge before charging again...
No special wiring if just using a charger. Yes, those chargers are very similar. 1 amp and cuts off when battery is fully charged at 12.6V. (3X4.2V)
Supplied charger and an inverter should not be a problem. Even a 25 Watt inverter should work fine as charges at 1 amp, or 12 watts. (1AX12V)
Don't...
This is the charger you need for in car charging.
If it's going to be living in your car permanently, and going to run off the car battery, best run a wire direct from fuse box and do not have any batteries installed in the device. Direct wiring is because the car accessory connectors can't...
Just added this to the FAQ sheet as well.
Installing the Batteries:
Only 4 screws need to be removed. Looking from the front the two screws on the right and turning the unit around again the two screws on the right. Unit will slide open as shown. Install batteries and re-install the screws...
I have reached out to all on my 1st run batch list of both Skeletors and Portsides. If I missed anyone, please let me know.
2nd run Skeletors coming up shortly.
;)
A few pics of the progress.
Here is a group shot of the Skeletors and a couple custom requested builds.
Here is the inside of the Portside.
And completed Portside from different angles. Note the gauge lights are on but they turn off after 5 seconds.
I have reached out to all those on...
So finally received a shipment of gauges. The second order actually, as first order seems to have lost it's way.
All first batch Portsides will be done by weeks end and Skeletors in a day or two.
It's being a long wait but going to be worth it. I've used the time and gotten well into...
The closer you get to the rated current, the less working voltage come out when under the load. Due to the internal resistance which relate to the rating.
IMO, the 3000 mAh batteries are good if you get the right ones. I now always refer to Mooch's battery test results to baseline the ratings...
I like the mod for locking the deck to base. I find the looseness seems to snug up as time passes and O ring settles in.
Never really think about it, but then again, avoid grabbing by the top automatically from experience...
There is a way not to have to go through the wood at all. You...
No problem.
Drilling through glass is actually easy when done right.
You need one of these diamond hole drill bits and a basin deep enough to just cover the glass with water. Fill the basin or bucket just until the area to be drilled is just under the water line. Drill slowly and steady and hold...
Both PS and Skeletors are all made for first batches and just awaiting the arrival of the gauges. Was hoping to already have a couple weeks back.
Have a couple orders in for the gauges now.
Lists are building fast for a next batch which will be a couple months away.
Dang, the JBWeld is not...
Must have come off.
@Rumble Duck has a good solution. Cut a piece of cork or soft wood close to the full inside diameter of the tube. Need about 4 mm of space between the top of button to end of VC. Make a hole the size of button top so it can have some friction fit to hold in place. Make the...
I see the problem....
The glass tube has moved too high compared to coil. It should only show about half the amount above the coil. (4-5mm) Currently looking like 9-10mm. You can push the glass through the coil some and bend the whole coil upwards some as well.
The way it's sitting now...
Nice. You still have vertical space if you need too.
Couple things. That holder comes with pretty small gauge wire. Should be OK if you keep the run only an inch or so between them. This type would be preferable as can use some heavier wire.
A note on the BMS unit. Unless it states it has on...
