Yes, named the power switch a kill switch as doesn't ever need to be turned off unless something goes wrong and don't like the smell of burning electronics.
Sound right so far. The little charger has a light to indicate charging. Red while charging and will go to green when done.
The battery indicator only shows when you press the test button. This unit draws zero power in standby so there is no standby indicator.
Enjoy as it is likely fully...
Installing the Batteries:
Only 4 screws need to be removed. Looking from the front the two screws on the right and turning the unit around again the two screws on the right. Unit will slide open as shown. Install batteries and re-insert the screws careful not to cross thread.
Use flat top...
Unfortunately, not good news. If the power is dropping when kill switch is turned on, this indicates the unit is shorted even without pressing the dipping switch.
This is new and will need to come back to me for repair. Specially since the symptom changed some, points to more then one problem...
@ClearBlueLou, as @xlr8shun stated, it sounds like no power from the battery/BMS unit.
For sure check battery polarities. The two outer cells should be + down and center cell + up.
If this is not the issue, please take a couple close up shots of the BMS wiring and send to me via a PM.
I admit, I...
Welcome to the club! Definitely some fun to be had.
The FET is so a light tactile type switch can be used. You want just a little pressure to active the coil. The switch is activated by dipping the VC in and acts as a dead mans switch so there is little chance of the device being left on.
You...
This has being reported before and the fix seems to be not to touch the back of the BMS board. There are a couple solder pads for an optional temperature sensor to force protection mode in case of over heating. Touching around this area trips the protection. Inserting the charger resets it.
Let...
It for safety for the most part. If something goes south in the heater, it's the BMS that prevents the problem from getting into a smoky or even a fire situation. This particular board also has a balancing circuit to help keep the batteries aging evenly. Generally, if over two cells are used in...
So I've PMed everyone on the Portside Batch 3 list. If I missed anyone, please let me know.
Batch 4 will be out in 4-6 weeks and list is about 1/2 full.
The mini is now in the beta stage and as far as electrically and enclosure fitting go, all is as expected. So the main fears are now...
I think all those pics look pretty much normal. I actually use a thin grinder to cut the doweling while rotating it with my fingers. Only leave the center attached so I end up with a stick of spacers that I can take off one at a time as I need them. And managing to keep all my fingers in the...
You want the 11.1 volt. (S3). These batteries are generally used in racing drones.
If some are buying to do a DIY, please keep in mind that if soldering, the battery leads are hot and much caution is needed. I have ordered these and these to solder onto the BMS. Just to use the connector and...
;) Seems the natives are restless.
It's correct that I'm trying to cut down on the PMs as I'd need some administrative help to keep up.
Please bare in mind that the Mini is still in planning stages and no beta unit has even being built. However, I do have the confidence it will be a go...
The Portside is still alive for sure.
All depends on ones needs. The PS will go for a long weekend camping trip and then some, whereas the PSMini should go for at least a full day or more. And I mean full blown usage for both units, even some sharing.
If intending to take to a party with...
