There's no need to huff and puff and blow the house down. Just blow the smoke out to keep it from stinking up the piece. There's no way I could blow my caps off, even if I tried. That seems it'd be way too loose. I just blow through the hot stem, keep the smoke out, remove the cap when it's cool...

Let it sit and smolder inside the cap, it burns longer, getting everything stinky. Blow it out, cool it off ASAP, less stink IME. But whatever works for you is fine with me. :tup:

@Slotheus - Next time you combust, try blowing through your VC until it stops smoking and then dump that shit out ASAP. I've found that keeps the majority of the stink out. Then load up another cap immediately to get the good smell back in there. It works for me anyway.

And...I missed it. Apparently I need to sign for the package. I ran home at lunch, about the time the mail usually shows up, but it wasn't here yet. I'll pick it up at the post office tomorrow morning on my way to work. At least I'll have it to play with tomorrow night and then I have the next...

I used a torch for a week before ordering my IH. As others have said, it's good to know how to use a torch but I use my IH 99% of the time. But I only used torches this past weekend when I was out of town visiting family. So yeah, both are great.

Caldron is plug-in, it'd work great while you're working at your PC. I've got a Flux Deluxe portable IH but for outdoors I usually take a torch. Batteries don't like sub-zero temps. Neither do lighters but I find it easier to keep a small torch warm vs a larger IH. But yeah, buy a Caldron for...

Yep, I found his thread almost immediately when I joined FC about a year ago. He did some amazing work. I wish him well with his home life and I hope he gets back into the stem game some day.
