I choose Air over Solo because of portability. Now I want Solo because I am tired of changing Air batteries :) I don't think Air is much smaller. Solo is shorter. And I believe Solo thickness is a benefit for better grip.

Arizer Air stem with plastic MP fits 14 mm. Add long Arizer Solo stem for intake. Join them somehow, f.e. with DIY wood sleeve. $20 of materials. EDIT: bent Solo stem deserves a look too.

I did the same. This screen clogs less and is easy to clean. Airflow is improved too.

Do you draw slowly? Have you tried lower temps? This works for me. Stock screen had hotspot too, just offcentered towards to mouthpiece. My new hotspot :) is not bigger now. EDIT: I also thought to place smth below the screen, covering the hole, to dissect the flow. Like glass bead or nail-head...
