    Are you guys using 3-4 torches? Metal bowl conducts heat much faster than glass, so it may overheat the edges of the load before click. Glass conducts slower, so heat have time to soak into the load. Try single torch.

    It does not work with pipe tobacco I use, which is ribbon cut. It is not easy to pack pretty large ribbons this way. When heated, those ribbons straighten and come into direct contact with cap bottom anyway. Yes, and it is easier to use, more stable as well as precise.
