Possible the auto shut off is faulty, it shuts off when it feels like it even though the unit probably knows its getting pulled on? Certainly supposed to detect a draw and not shut off till 18 seconds after you stop.

OK I get it make a little tab and catch it in between the tail cap and the lip on the inside of the ring. That bit I can do, but... what about the other end? Where is that clamped? In the thread of the cart? Or up between the ceramic body and the metal plate? Maybe try and screw one of the grub...

I'm still not sure I follow, when you said tail cap I thought you meant the switch end. so clamp the new strap at both ends in the thread? Won't that gall the thread's?

But what about the other end? The plate at the top work the set screws that the carts screw into?
