Wax should work wonderful on the hercules. Always works for me. Maybe technique or too little wax inside. It can also be over loaded. Try it again! If shatter works, so can wax. I just loaded crumble last night into my SR71. Works excellent.

That's exactly what I found out too. I noticed when you have good air flow the SR heats up and produces clouds of tasty vapor in about 5-6 seconds cold start. When my airflow is blocked my first couple of hits do taste burnt for the same exact reasons @torggzorz explained.

You have the sr74x, the cap stays stuck because of oil cooling down sealing the top cap. To remove easily I usually take 2-3 hits before disassembly. This usually warms up the herc enough to remove the top cap easily. You can take off the top stainless screen. I did a long time ago. No issues...
