i think the difference is, when you heat it with a torch, it's potentially much, much, hotter, and you heat up a larger portion of it. With the enail, and low temp dabbing, it's not going to retain as much, especially not after taking a dab. i definitely notice 8-10f drop, where as on my quartz...

Some even more exciting news...the first 4 sets of batteries are here, and I did my initial time trial. I got just over 4 hours with the VK attached to a HI set at 11.75v. Yay! Needless to say, I'm quite happy with that result. I already have another 3 sets of the same batteries on the way...

which omron controller are you referring that's $345 retail? the e5cc's seem to be available for cheap $50-60ish, new, all over, regardless of the supposed retail price...but I have not found any e5gc's for cheap, those are all $200+ new. I have started to wonder if the cheap e5cc's everywhere...

How'd you ever fair with it? I just switched back to my genesis after going ceramic again for a week. Main thing I'm noticing is that I was cleaning the ceramic a lot more, and that the ceramic seemed to be fowling up the odor a lot once it got dirty....the genesis will get dirty eventually...

Well, I normally run it with the flat coil at 750f. I have not tried it with the barrel, but my experience with flat vs barrel in other nails has shown that it's usually add another 50-80f for a barrel. I'd try around 800-830f maybe. Also, wait a good 3-5 minutes after your nail says it's...
