My guess is that the floating pin in your 510-601 adapter has "gapped" by pushing the center pin in the KISS cartridge inwards a bit (assuming that the pad in battery has no give). I'd suggest looking at the center pin in the adapter and eyeball it to see if it's centered longitudinally and...
