The cans I'm using are about the height of an Altoids tin. But they have screw-on caps that, although not 100% airtight, would be more airtight than the Altoids tin. But I do agree that the rectangular shape would lend itself better to scooping than my round tins do. New jars are on the way.

Earlier post from me: These are 1.5 inches high - I estimate that my case will handle that height. We'll see!
