I'm definitely one of those with "older fingers"! To get around that, I generally use a one-hand "pinch"... it takes some practice, but it's quite stable when you get the hang of it. Once in the grip, I autofire it briefly with a single long click using my other hand, then puff away. Honestly...

Agreed... the vapor is warmer than some might prefer. We chose wood for it's organic feel as well as the insulting properties. This reduces terp loss due to condensation, which also means less cleaning, but the vapor does stay on the warm side. And, because we wanted to keep it thin, we had to...

Yeah, why no more love? 😅 Sincere apologies that I haven't been more engaged in this forum. I'm getting married next week, had Covid, and had tons of work and events during the holiday sale season. Yada yada yada... A couple of quick updates: 1) We're launching our WPA pre-orders this...

Hey, everyone! I wanted to let you know that I recently discussed the myths of boiling points, and other vaporization topics with Wayne Schwind, the host of the Periodic Effects Science and Business podcast. If you haven't listened to his show, I highly encourage it. His guests are usually quite...

Boiling point myths and the science of flower vaporization

Hey, everyone! I wanted to let you know that I recently discussed this, and other topics with Wayne Schwind, the host of the Periodic Effects Science and Business podcast. If you haven't listened to his show, I highly encourage it. His guests are usually quite legit and he has a science...

Boiling point myths and the science of flower vaporization

I'm totally down with making a de-mythification thread... though from the outset, I'd like to stipulate that consumer experience and years of lore must be accepted at face value and with respect even if it turns out to be the result of misconceptions. Lore reflects our collective experience and...

Boiling point myths and the science of flower vaporization

As a former aerospace engineer, I apologize if the following is going too far: Pressure is an interesting consideration. While atmospheric pressure surely has some affect, there is a larger pressure drop right at the herb in most convection and conduction vaporizers. This depends somewhat on...

Boiling point myths and the science of flower vaporization

@BleuEyedGuy Yes, as @Curious Gorilla points out in the referred studies, benzene is in the air around us--some from natural sources, but mostly from human sources. They are dominant in VOCs that were prevalent in the news a while back. They are part of the "off gassing" smells of a new memory...

Boiling point myths and the science of flower vaporization

As you mention, there is not a lot of research that I've been able to find about benzene formation during vaporization. It exists (somewhat) for tobacco smoking, but I haven't found much regarding the the chemical mechanism for it's production. Is it a degradation of a cannabinoid or terpenoid...

Boiling point myths and the science of flower vaporization

Okay, I just read another article (from a cannabis science site, no less) that completely missed how flower vaporization actually works. So, I wrote an article for Medium, and wanted to post it on FC for your comments and insights. This was written at a high level for a less knowledgeable...

Hey, all! Hope your summer has been a good one! We just got back from a great show at Champs in Vegas... wild. Several of you have asked about a WPA and we've found a manufacturer that we think can deliver the kind of quality we're seeking. We just got a 3D print back to check tolerances and...

Hey, @thegreenmenace. Sorry to hear that the bonding ceramic failed! The bonding ceramic is 99.9% pure alumina ceramic, but we had a batch where some expired solution was used. We're happy to repair that for you. Please DM me your order # if you have it and we'll get you a pre-paid return label...

Yes, it's desirable to have the sides of the pad press up against the walls of the bowl. Otherwise, air will slip past the outside and decrease efficiency quite a bit. Another thing to try would be to put a titanium screen over the top of the concentrate pad to act as a heat...

Any Benefit Adding Terps to Flower?

basil, chamomile, dried citrus zest (lemon, orange, grapefruit), chai spice tea, rose petals, mint leaves, lemon balm... Hops are also quite interesting to vaporize if you like that IPA bitterness (though they're nasty when smoked). They can be high in myrcene and other terpenes. Try to get...

Any Benefit Adding Terps to Flower?

I love adding terpenes in the form of other dried herbs to my bowl (lemongrass, lavender, etc). However, I would counsel against adding any terpene isolates to your herb. In high concentrations, most terpenes (such as limonene) are fairly strong solvents... misting may work, but a drop is a lot.

Before the ultra-efficient Terp Surfer, we loved the freedom that the Neo gave us to transform any pipe/wpa into a convection-based vaporizer system. So, we played around with many of the usual pipes and bongs--especially loving the pieces from O'Connell as well as @CDXX Pipes--but we also did a...
