clearly, i was just making a joke to illustrate how ridiculous i find the idea of patenting a twisted strip in a tube, since it wasn't invented by them either. and i have to say, i'm not making those comments to bash Simrell, i really admire his work, but i can't agree with what happened in the...

also, patent filing does not automatically mean patent holder. in this case the word got thrown around and community pressure made the guy (from Germany?) take down the DIY guide ... no offence to Simrell, i think the value of his stems stems from and his craftsmanship and art, technological...

I remember a while back someone posted a DIY guide on reddit. Got shot down by the hurr durr muh Simrell patents crowd. That's when I learned who invented the helix and possibly DNA

right? i assume they had ample feedback on this since they introduced the captive cap.. baffling ... it's like 1+ mm of play there .. considering we have a 10mm-ish bowl i think a 10% variation is quite significant. it certainly has a noticeable impact on performance and feel. and i think the...

sry if this was already posted but i found it very informative and it's always a joy to see/hear George. regarding the captive cap however as others have mentioned vertical play introduced undesirable variable (good band name?) in performance and it's difficult to remove for fast reloads IME...

this! coupled with the extra mass of the 20M tip fins i didn't like either. but i think they said the new tips + captive caps fit more tightly together and transfer heat better. they might have updated the caps a little too...

clearly it's all a matter of perspective but the way i see it the titanium stem, condenser and tip are all fixed together with the only moving part being the outer wood shell. being outside the airpath cleaning shouldn't be an issue altho not being able to remove/replace it is sort of a deal...

yup. i was just trying to clarify i think only the outside wood lining rotates, not the titanium stem, as your post seemed to suggest. sry if i misunderstood

looks more like a wood sleeve on titanium stem and condenser. both the stem and wood outside lining tube have an airport and you rotate the sleeve to adjust/align. vapor never touches the wood since it's outside the airpath basically.

so apparently the omni MSRP for the EU is indeed 226 EUR (270$) ... that's quite a bump from the 176$ sales price ... what gives? :hmm: yeah... makes sense i guess... certainly not helping my FOMO... i was thinking of waiting for EU sales because of shipping and customs but now i'm not so sure.

same way the 19 and 20M tip works. you stab the nug and twist while chanting "kali maa" (in a menacing tone) to remove a filled bowl.

yeah it's a great example of TI machining properties (think of carving cheese). it's not rough in fact it's some of the most intricate and precise work i can think of. of course i might be wrong but that's how i see/understand it ATM. regarding the new omni condenser i think it looks really...

    Dynavap VapCap

yeah to a degree, but i don't think there's that much heat conducted in the condenser since it's not touching the tip like the stem is. doubt it's going to cool anything like an increased surface area condenser (like the intercooler or a nipple stem of the same length) but i def like it, it's an...

the exterior certainly looks cool and i imagine it adds a bit more turbulence and vortex action but i doubt it has much impact on cooling on the inside of the condenser.

looks to me like all the parts are compatible with older versions. even the omni MP thread seems to have the same pace. the machining is jaw dropping. i really like the aesthetics but i'm a bit concerned about the mass of the fin design on the new TI tips having the same 20M undesirable heat...
