Yeh, a lighter-colored maple, or maybe a much darker, wood might look better. It's not a good color match. It does look incongruous, too. I agree, aesthetically it's not so nice. I think the wood mouthpiece looks better on the streamlined 2018-M than on the heavily contoured, sculpted...

Pipes, if I'm not mistaken, uses the generic off-the-shelf stuff, too, but then adds some tweaking mods to customize his module. Plus, his "dressing" of the wiring and everything else is quite tidy and impressive. Hopefully, the Alpine 2020 does a good job and doesn't just throw it all together...
