well, i think it is the genius design of the heat exchanger - to have so much heat left so long after removing the torch, after 3 hits. we need a sensor readout on the hottest part - where the torch hits the aluminum.

is "Temp Outside Stem" measuring where you are apply the torch? is this the hottest part of the heater? the red going above green (second and third draws) defies logic.

well, i think there is a "heat of vaporization" effect with fresh trichomes in the bowl - which cools the heater more than it does later when the trichomes are mostly empty.

i agree --- convection heating. now that you're calibrated, how about some curves with the temp probe smashed against the inside surface of the bowl, and against the surface of the heater wall (outside the bowl) unless the bowl can fit tight against the heater wall, so the temps will be the same.

okay, sorry ... different probe type? thicker or different shroud? thicker leads? i use a BBQ thermometer for my real world readings, which i take apart to get to the probe element ... it has a small glass covered thermocouple, with thin leads - about 30awg

your last chart shows that you are getting 390F, 5 seconds into the hit ... but the resting temp will be lower, unless you are measuring the heater itself - i.e. with the thermometer probe in direct contact with the heater ... and in this case, you should see a slight drop in the heater temp...
