Awesome for 1 hit clearing on level 3 or 4. The heater only allows a 20 second cycle but it produces evenly deep brown avb. I fill the bowl full and am very happy with the extraction after 20 seconds. Level 4 is darker but starts to affect flavour. I can't imagine getting all those hits people...

The Alpha has a donut shaped bowl so not sure how well you can pack with screens around the central pin. The bowl isn't huge like the pax anyway and from memory (sold mine a while back) you can half pack and tamp around the pin with good results.
