is it safe to run a 3.7v black rod on the sr74 at 7.4v? It heats up way better than the white rod at 7.4v

that's definitely the problem. just tried without the insulator and its working good. Dang well that sucks :(

@THC SCIENTIFIC I just received my 8 and I am also getting misfires and very slow heat up. I noticed that on the bottom adapter of the sr74 only the top gold pin is spring loaded. the bottom pin that actually makes contact with the 8 is not spring loaded. Is that supposed to be like that?

You guys think I should go with the xtar xp4 or the xp4c? Only difference I see is that you can manually select amperage and it can charge at 1.0A even with four batteries at once. That would charge 18350 or 18500 faster am I right?

Yes I saw that, just didn't know if it pertained to the 8 as well. How much longer can I expect the two 18500 to last versus two 18350. Also where do you get your 18500 from? Which ones do you recommend I get for the hercules sr74?

ah so the persei ss kit will work on the 8 for use with two 18650s?

Do you know if a different battery combination would give me longer battery life with the Hercules?

Two 18500 will fit in the new 8 without getting a longer tube?

ahh I see, so if I get the 2x18650 they'll be running at 7.4v but need the ss kit. Starting to make more sense now thanks:tup:. One more question, the website says the 8 comes with one 18350 ss tube. From the pictures it looks like a smaller tube. Is this so I can run just one 18350 battery at...

Yeah, I'm going to get a spare set also. What's the difference between the 18650's and the 18350? I read the the 18650 were needed so you could use the Herc sr74. Is this not the case with the new 8?

If I do buy the 8. I'll also have to get batteries and a charger correct? I am planning on getting the sr74 as well, so what else would I need to get that to work good. I see other people running this same setup.
