I can see that happening , but the Vortex has an additional glass chamber located just below the herb bowl . It has a thinner tubular path for the vapor to travel thru before entering the rest of the stem . idk the physics behind it , but it does seem to work . ime

What temp level are you using ? That will be a factor in your portable battery sessions . I can get 2 hours of straight usage on levels 3 and 4 . But only 1 1/2 hrs on levels 6 and 7 for water vaping . Hope that helps .
