Hi there tdriver, The plastic shell backing does not fit back on the solo one the battery is installed. The battery takes up all available space in the battery chamber, so the solo casing fits on snugly and there is no rattle. Thanks, Michael

I think it's the picture making it look different - the air is draw in through the open end of the tube at the bottom of the unit. The wiring and heating element are all on the outside of the glass tubes, so there is nothing in the airpath.
