The Iris is your friend here. I like 6v to 6.2v, low and slow. I have taken to heating the glass first empty, then dropping the dry herb in. Makes for a tasty first hit.

I have been using winterized dispensary purchased wax with a 1:1 mix in a sapphire cart. No leaks in probably 5 months of use. I don't taste any plastic, but then again I am pretty liaise faire when it comes to my medicine. Sapphires are awesome for portability and discrete use.

Saphires are not rebuildable true. But I use mine daily and I never burp or coddle them. Have not had a leak in over a year of using them and have easily gone through 10g of undiluted Pure Gold through just one of the sapphire carts. For $2 a pop I can't find a reason not to like them. OTOH...

My Kiss carts turn black as well (the wick anyway). I load about .05 gram (BB sized ball) each time and probably get 6 to 8 hits. Each hit I usually press button until I start getting vapor and then I do 2-3 second pulses (on for 2 to 3 seconds then off for 2 or 3 seconds) usually 3 or 4 times...
