For those curious after that stream it took 20 minutes of being on the charger for the unit to show it was charging. Then it charged for 35 to 45 minutes before going green. Don't give up hope if it doesn't immediately charge.

You can still use the blue silicone without the metal screen. If you dont have that in place there is no seal and air leaks from the vapor path. If blue silicone is used yes it will stop airflow entirely covering up the bottom hole.

It is exactly beside the airflow is so wide open. You can pull very fast and still get vapor. I personally was never impressed by Arizer's performance, they had flavor but I think Fury overall is a better value.
