So I ended up sanding the bowl that didn’t fit and it fits great now!! I used a knife sharpening block and wet it with water. Took me about a half hour of sanding/test fitting to get to where I am happy with it.....it looks frosted now

I just use a pair of pliers. I never go anymore than smug enough to keep the dish from spinning but the nut always gets stuck. A gentle 1/8 turn with pliers and it comes right off.
