Thanks! The screens in the clip are standard 1/2" stainless steel pipe screens, so should be easily user replaceable. You can easily remove them to clean and easily pop them right back. The hole they fit into is a tiny bit less than 1/2", so the screens have to bend into a slight bowl in order...

Thanks, that's kind of what i think too, although I'd also add that the more ergonomic look of the original is just a look and is really just as comfortable to use in practice. I think I might start offering the new version as an alternative. Nice idea about using the space to store something...

I just made an alternate top shape as shown on the right in the image below (original on the left). Any thoughts or preferences?

Something definitely sounds off here. One thing to check - Remove the tray and use a credit card or some plastic wrap to cover the oring that the tray normally sits against. Then draw through the mouthpiece to check how tight the seal is. It should be pretty close to air tight. If not then...

The air inlets are small gaps at the corner of the ceramic heater block, between the block and the surrounding wood housing. So the air is passing between wood and ceramic, then into the ceramic block where it is heated by the stainless heating element then through a stainless screen after...

There is a screen covering the heater so stuff can't get in

Guys, just saying - you should try it, or get more feedback before you declare it is hard to load. I typically don't even remove the whole tray, instead I just stick the tray out about an inch, blow the abv out, then stick the protruding tray down into my ground up stash and load it. I really...

Sorry, I guess it has been over 2 weeks now and it still isn't released. Good thing I didn't take anybody's money yet ;) I'm getting really close, just need to work out a few minor manufacturing and calibrations details. Hopefully I'll have the first production batch out next week.

The heater enclosure in changing from glass to ceramic and the geometry is quite a bit different. It definitely gets more of a radiant heat contribution than fw4, but fw4, and a lot of other vapes, definitely also get some help from radiant heat. How much depends on geometry, draw speed, etc...

    Firewood Vaporizer

depends on size of load, herb quality, grind, temp setting, etc. I did a quick test last night on heat level 3 (out of 4) with some homegrown carnival. I don't have a good scale, so I had to measure out 0.8g, then divide it in half a few times to get 3 chambers with approx. 0.1g, 0.05g and...

It is 3 pieces of wood, 4 if you include the button. It is hard to see the joint but the main unit is 2 pieces. The battery cover snaps into place then you squeeze the end to unlatch it before opening it.

This shows the unit upside down with the battery cover/mouthpiece removed and a fw4 behind it for scale. Without packing the herb, each chamber in the tray will hold around 75% of the plant material as a fw4 capsule. However, you can definitely pack the chambers a bit more with the fw5 which...

Sorry, no photos yet. I still only have an ugly prototype because I have been working through some design tweaks with the heater design, etc. I hope to post something within a week or so. Sorry, no date either, just some time this spring. The cool dovetail is gone, but is replaced with some...

You won't need to primer puff, but you will want to hold the button for a second or two before drawing, basically the time it takes to exhale and move the vape to your mouth. No more capsules. All I can say for now is that the herbs go in an external "tray" that slides into the device...

    Firewood Vaporizer

It'll be temp controlled but you hold a button like a manual and it turns on to your previously set temp instantly as soon as you press the button. It'll still use draw sense... It'll heat up to set temp whenever you are holding the button and drawing at the same time (except first couple secs...

Everybody should definitely send in their firewood 4 units to get the official fix! I appreciate people wanting to save me money but I'd much rather have the peace of mind of knowing that everything has been fixed properly. Also, wanted to link to the official recall info on the fw website...

Sorry of it is too tight - you should be able to get it much smoother by first making sure there is no gunk along the sliding areas, then if it is still too tight use a tiny bit of oil (mineral oil or most plant oils should work) to lubricate the sliding areas. If it is still too tight then...
