I think it's just that quartz is easier to shape and quite a bit cheaper. Diamond loop is torch only. I was surprised to see that the Nautilus inserts were being marketed for torch bangers. I personally would like to see a video of not only a torch and dab, but a torch until failure. Big glob...

Haha, that's my standard capping practice as well. I have two caps from coojoglass; one tight, one open. Restricted cap for first hit, open for clean-up. Excited to hear more about your sapphire insert experiments. :science:
