Seems like all retailers I have seen: Vgoodiez and Vapefiend, have the titanium stem apart of the contents of the box. So I do not think the titanium stem is exclusive to ordering directly from TM if I'm understanding your question correctly!

I would be careful about leaving it outside / in the sun because of fear of condesnation and morning dew getting into the device. Honestly what I would try to do is using some bees wax (warm or room temperature to clean out / oil the device and that will definitely directly combat the smell!
