Pen Puffco Pivot

I didn't get a hot-knife for loading, but I would assume that you can easily load with any dabber-tool during the pre-heat. Is that correct? As long as I'm careful not to scratch the chamber's surface then that should be fine, right?

I'm a microdoser (well, micro -ish). I use a titanium toothpick and sort of twist/wipe to rosin off on the sides of the atty. Zero waste.

Welcome to the club

Oops. I completely overlooked the link. Thanks.

I may still oprder that case, but I just tried THIS CASE that I'd bought five years ago for my Nomad. It holds the Pivot and a jar of rosin, as well as all my tools quite well.

I’ve never loaded using preheat (well..session). Probably would work like the cricket.

My biggest advice is be careful if you try high temps. Shoot, I never go above green anymore lol.

Yeah, I was thinking the rosin or rosin-like concentrates would be off the tool/dabber before the device vibrates to say it's reached the set temp. If not, then it would prob be more of a pain to do all the time because scurrying to get the cap closed while losing precious initial vapor would suck...given that I have tabletop glass and devices with torches and e-nail coils at home to efficiently "dab" my concentrates properly. I point that out to make the point that I specifically bought this for quick out and about use during the day, and maybe on my nightstand for before bed when I don't want to deal with having all that out to be knocked over when I push the pillow or blanket off the bed in my sleep or something

Anyway, as superior as rosin is in every way, I did buy a couple grams of decent live resin today (along with a gram of some nicely-pungent smelling rosin that I couldn't resist) that has more of a moist crumble texture and is super easy to load (falls off the tool at the slightest nudge without leaving much of anything behind). I had a great session with that right after steeping out of my morning shower today :smug:

That being said, one complaint I have so far (that I'm hoping someone will explain that I'm wrong about because I missed it when I read the manual or something) after my first seven or eight sessions with this device is that it does not appear to have a way to lock it out/off when not in use.

Is it really only turned on and off with a three-second button hold? I say that because the button presses so softly that it seems really easy to accidentally turn it on by accident. Like, I'd never put this in my pocket outside of a case, and I may look for a larger harder case (like Puffco's Pivot case or something similar I've seen in 3D-printed hard-cases on Etsy) than the one in the image I posted above because on more than one occasion now I've pulled this out of the case I have it in and found it to be already turned on. I've also turned it back on more than once while swabbing after a hit/session because I didn't even realize my finger was touching the button. It makes me wish that this had the five-fast-clicks power on & off function that most of the handheld electronic (non-mechanical) vape devices I've had in the past did. So...is there a hidden function I missed for locking this device out/off for safely pocketing, etc.?

Also, about cleaning...I see that Puffco recommends soaking the 3D chamber in ISO for 20 min. occasionally for deep cleaning. So, how often to y'all do that? And do you immerse the whole thing in alcohol, or do you just keep it upright and fill only the cup of the chamber with alcohol?

Soak weekly or more often if you use larger dabs because goo will get under the metal rim and build up over time behind the ceramic affecting performance and battery life. With the original chambers that only had 1 hole on top it is nearly impossible to fully clean hut rhe new ones with 3 holes are much better!

Regarding the click to turn in and off I think it is a 5 second long press

5 clicks on blue for extra low temp mode

5 clicks on white for the boosted session which is way too hot natively imo and much more prone to chazz (never use anymore, green is the highest I'll go)

6 or more clicks to recalibrate the oven (flashes twice then turns orange or red pulsing before a final confirmation flash)

Quick reactivation after session ends will still only add 15 seconds to the boost timer but wait more than like 10 seconds and it'll start a brand new session timer which overcooks it when I'm not paying attention.

The button has an audible and tactile click for me but yeah it only requires minor pressure on both mine. If yours isn't feeling clicky you might reach out to them for a replacement.

Here's an interesting Pivot case I came across while browsing on Etsy:

**Edit**

For those looking for a cheap case on Amazon, this looks great for under twelve bucks. Both the long and the short section spacers are adjustable, as they have velcro on the ends. As cheap as it is, I went ahead and ordered one. I think I'll be perfectly fine with it.
