Tafée Bowle

Update: They responded a few days later after they had already shipped a replacement.

They said originally it was going to be a brand new retail unit but I got this instead after the interaction where they asked me to pay on return shipping:

The unit was banging around in the box and that bubble wrap is only at the top. Maybe 40% of the box has packing.

It is mint condition physically which is nice, but it didn't turn on. I was going to try the reset but as soon as I plugged in the Tafée charger it lit up and seemed to work normally. If I click both buttons 3 times to lock however it will turn off and NOTHING I do will get it to respond unless I plug in the USB cable. As soon as that gets connected, boom, it is alive and I can unplug it and use normally.

Anyone else had an issue like this? Aren't they supposed to test these units prior to sending?

I am pretty deflated on Tafée at this point but it was really nice for the brief time I got to use it. Wildly enough, I have only had it in hand for maybe two weeks but I'm outside the return window even.

Also kinda annoyed because they told me it would ship with a 2 day window within 24 hours of receiving my original unit and instead they sent ground. I told them I had a trip and was trying to make sure it wouldnt end up coming now but either they had selective blindness or ignored it because it was the main point of my email before they receive my unit. I ended up delaying the trip so I could be home for the delivery....

Again, I am feeling like Tafée is not up to par on service. Nothing they have said to me is what they've actually ended up doing and they were very clear in placing the blame on me while saying "though we could improve communication."

I am so torn on this company. They have an excellent device (when it works), but the experience from the first purchase delivery to now has been rough for me. I hope nobody else has this experience.

If it were a $100 device I would have a completely different view. They said they do not provide an experience like Puffco because Puffco is made in China and theirs is made in Canada... I really fail to see how that matters for customer service. Sounds arrogant.

Anyway I have another email off to them describing this issue and we'll see what they say. I'm not sure I want to complain anymore because it seems like I got punished for what I felt were very valid issues.

I'm wondering if your device is not still in "shipping mode" when you received it? I didn't know that this mode existed until I read this link.

From what I read, if it was in "shipping mode" to protect it from accidentally turning on during shipping, then you're supposed to keep it plugged in for at least an hour before using it. Maybe that's why it's acting this way?

They sent a reply thinking that was the case, however it isn't. I sent them a video of it. Device is on. Push both buttons three times. Lights out. Nothing will bring it back other than plugging in to USB so it's like is defaults straight to travel mode.

It's not like I can't use it (won't be for at least a couple days anyway) but if I lock it I better make sure I've got an appropriate USB cable around. Hopefully they can figure it out... I really don't want to have to deal with another round of shipping and not having the device I paid good money for.

Oh they also replied fairly quickly to my email from before that last post. They think customs opened it and didn't repack it well which I'm inclined to believe because it was relabeled.

EDIT: omg I am such an idiot. I realized it when I went back through the post you linked and their email instructions... I was pushing both buttons to lock instead of just the fire button 🤦‍♂️

Annoyed as hell with myself but this is a good outcome!

I can't edit my previous post to remove the griping that was unwarranted but sorry for the extended vent earlier

Hey, I'm really happy it all worked out for you.

All is well that ends well 🙂

I must say, this does not do too bad with hash. I put a decent chunk in the pot with some vape cotton and managed to keep on that same pot all day yesterday. Flavor was on point and I kept it on level 4. Got about 20 ten second or so draws off it but the first few did very little.

The replacement unit seems to have a better battery than the first as well, because I havent had to charge it yet and had 9 or so pots before this hash one (which is still going after a stir). Still showing 3 battery dots.

Good to know about hash! I've thought about trying hash/concentrates but never got around to it.

I rarely try hash or concentrates with a pure convection heater because I feel that the heater needs to be *very* powerful to get results. On the order of a good desktop ball vape.

A hybrid heater or pure conduction heater usually gives better results but I'm thinking level 5 on the Bowle might be worth trying. 🤔

Also, your battery life sounds more normal now. Good stuff 👍

I haven't tried 5 yet because when I said vape cotton I meant rayon and im pretty sure it's got some VOCs at level 4 already. The fibers look great still compared to one or two sessions in a Tempest 1 and it's worth noting on level 4 I never picked up that nutty flavor that rayon can sometimes put out.

I will try to get some hemp fiber to see how it does on level 5 but for straight hash level 4 works excellent after a preheat puff or two.

The customer service at Bowle for me is the number one...they TRULY know and care about the person. I have felt this all the time...specially when I write with a question or a problem...the service is ACE.

NEVER hesitate to purchase this product...

Bowle has integrity...

I'm glad to hear that there is some good service. I hope to never have to test it again though. Beside my mistake about locking it incorrectly I want to be clear that they were appalling in everything beyond kind wording with their choices and actions.

It was blindness and following a canned process. There is no other explanation for why I had to jump through so many hoops on a replacement and get conflicting instructions with no apology beyond suggesting I didn't read them.

I want my experience to be the last bad one posted here and I sincerely hope it is.

I've got a question for you more experienced vapor-ists out there... do ya'll experience any lung irritation the day after using it?

I love this device, everything about basically ticks all the boxes of what I want my vaporizer to be. But its my first full convection device, and even though I never really cough while using it I still experience some mild but definitely noticeable lung irritation, particularly after the high wears off and into the next day. Its something I never really have experienced with my dynas or S&B devices.

My theory is that the Bowle preserves more terpenes than I'm used to, or the longer direct to lung draws have me inhaling more hot air than I'm used to, I dunno. Maybe my lungs are especially sensitive (I was never a smoker)... but I'm fairly active and do lots of cardio so maybe that contributes as well? I really don't wanna sell this thing, but if I can't figure this out I don't see how I can keep using it, as my body seems to be telling me to stop.

Thoughts?

I'm very curious to hear more about this, since I've been thinking of getting the TB2 for it's supposedly super smooth vapor.

The Tinymight 2 has been making me cough a lot even through a great water pipe (Protégé 2).

If the TB2 could get rid of irritation both during and after use, that would be super appealing.

But if it still makes your lungs hurt the next day... Not so much 😕.

A suggestion... this is just me, so take it for what it's worth... I use a Moose Labs carbon filter for ALL vaping. Their Mini system works "fine" stretched across the Bowle's mouthpiece. This eases the irritation down to a very manageable level.

No day-after irritation for me, but I smoked cigarettes and joints for decades, so thats a big difference.
I've had several convection vapes before the Bowle (and several others, incl. Mighty) and have not had the day-after feeling in my lungs.
I think your idea about terps may have merit, however, I think those terps were being delivered before you had Bowle, they just weren't being delivered with as much flavor?
Or, is it possible your ailment is strain-specific? Trying something new lately?

But if it still makes your lungs hurt the next day... Not so much 😕.
Keep in mind, this is the first person to mention this condition in this thread. Hardly a conclsive correlation to this vape, maybe not even to vaping, we just don't know.

I wish, but its the same strains I've been using for awhile.

Most likely I'm just too sensitive.... I'm normally a mouth to lung dude with my other pieces. Fairly low tolerance as well, only vaping 2-3 times a week.

Yea as far as I know I'm the only person who's had this issue so I think its probably a "me" problem. Almost everyone everywhere talks about how smooth the vapor is (they are true! I don't cough at all), but for some reason this irratation only happens with the Bowle. I use temp settings 3 and 4

Regardless of the vape(s) I use, if I overdo it my throat is a little rough the next day, but the TB2 seems to have less effect than most. The worst for me at the Dynavaps and the FATx, but I hit those hot.

The smoothest I have found is the Bowle, the Vapman, Volcano, and the Lotus...I have never felt any harshness with these vapes at all.
But, with my other vapes most definitely. The list is on my signature. Many. I do love my TM2 but, pushed it is a beast.

Given that the TB2 has no possibility of WPA use, is it still "smoother" / lighter on the throat & lungs than other hard-hitting portables through water?
I stopped using water several years ago, I believe it robs flavor. So, if at all, I'll use a water piece dry. I prefer a glass u-hook type thing-- something with right angle turns, etc -- which is what the Bowle's stem emulates...

I love using rbt vapes (Splinter and 2ZM) with some added glass, or even with a Bowle stem, by adding an adapter piece sold by Delta3dstudios.
But I think, as a factory setup out of the box, the Bowle is the best I've experienced. I find myself using it about 10 to 1 over any others.
The disclaimer is that there are dozens of fine vapes out there that I've never tried!

Hey, all! Just got my TB2 and DAMN it's amazing. Flavor is insane, effects are great, I freaking love this thing.

BUT, there's a problem. I have a severe disability that makes me very weak. I can barely heft the 8oz puck to my mouth, let alone have the strength to hit the button. I have to have someone help me use it, not ideal.

Any makers on here who'd consider working with me to make this more accessible? A whip attachment would be amazing ;)
