MEXICO!! Guidance Needed.

I've very little experience in Mexico since legalization. What do I need to know about their recreation/adult use/ public use laws?

How do the dispensaries and products measure up to the states? Admittedly, I have very low expectations...

Does one have to toe the line around state and federal laws, like the US?
Does their customs agency care if you bring personal amounts into the country? If the material is not illegal, do they really care if you bring your own?

I was originally going to bring just a few pens, but I am tempted to pack a vape.


I'll be flying into Cancun and staying just north of Playa Del Carmen.
Please post up if you have any dispensary experience and recommendations for the area!! Weedmaps has nothing on these shops, online menus are slim...





Sidenote, also post up if you know of any fly fishing guides in the area! Most seem to be down in Ascension Bay, but I do not have time to go that far south.

I haven’t been to Mexico, but personally, I would recommend to never fly with drugs over international lines whether or not they are legal in both countries just not worth the headache, especially if you can buy weed in Mexico. As for flying with a vape in my experience, it’s been totally fine but I’m a clean freak and my vapes are as clean as the day I got them. I’ve only been questioned once and when asked, I said I used it to vape tobacco. But in my case I got lucky because they stopped me for being brown, not for the vape.

Not familiar with those areas. I was briefly in Mexico City in 2023. Not only were there dispos with pretty good (and very cheap) flower, there were full on cannabis cafes. Concentrate selection was pretty poor at the time though. This was shortly after legalization so that may have changed.

Sound advice

I've flown internationally with vape pens, but would not recommend doing so. Vape carts in your toiletries bag are 99.9% likely to get through, but that small chance of getting caught is something to consider very seriously. Are you good at doing crimes?

My friend did 3 years in and 5 years probation for accidentally returning w a roach. I think he had crazy attitude w tsa tho. The risk isn't worth an asshole agent. Even worse on the way in. Your prob fine packing a device but def would just get some there. My room had a liquor dispenser so I used vodka to clean everything b4 leaving and had a super nasty shot. No residue tho. Cancun had bud readily available pre legalization so I'm sure you'll be fine even if there isn't a local "dispensary". There was definitely alot of garbage but don't be turned off by seeds or color. I had some brown stuff packed w seeds that was super tasty potent, and cheap. Last I was there I ended up w a cigarette sized compressed block for like 80bucks. It was 2019 tho. Not sure about fly fishing but there are tons of sport fishing boats that go out all over. Have a fantastic trip
