Deng Xiaoping is just another capitalist apologist with better optics than the US ones. China is a repressive dictatorial state that throws minorities into work camps just like us. They abandoned even the pretense of a non-hierarchical, democratic system decades ago when they opened up their Special Economic Zones.
Xi Jinping is just another billionaire asshole who doesn't care a lick what happens to Chinese people. He only cares about exerting state influence to make himself and his cronies rich. In theory, yes. In reality, if you're going to be killed or imprisoned by a fascist in 2025, it is far more statistically likely this will be done by American (or US aligned) fascists than the Chinese. When was the last time the Chinese fired a shot in anger? American citizens are also more likely to end up in a prison camp than Chinese citizens are.
I don't like any of the repressive aspects of the Chinese government. But every time I hear an American or European complaining about China, I think of the "why do you notice the speck in your brother's eye" Bible quote.
The Chinese government spends shit tons of money on even development, public services, uplifting the rural poor. Way more than our billionaire owned government does.
Xi and the Dengists say they are working to "build socialism" by 2049. Maybe it's all bullshit and they're instead building a Jinping monarchy. But Marx was pretty clear that society must move from feudalism into capitalism before developing socialism. China says they're using the wealth capitalism creates to build socialism. I guess we'll see what happens

I don't think Westerners understand how fucking horrific the conditions were in pre-revolutionary Tibet. Some of the most brutal slavery ever practiced on the planet, deep into the 20th century.
I believe all people deserve the right of self determination. If Tibetans want to be independent, they should be. But Mao did not conquer Tibet. The region was already subservient to Beijing, as it was for most of recorded history. Maoists living in Tibet simply overthrew their brutal feudal lords.
I assume this is about Xinjiang? Look, I think what China did to the Uyghurs was horrible. But it's not really comparable to how America and Israel treat intractable Muslim minority groups (mass murdering them).
I don't think the attempted "cultural genocide" of the Uyghurs was remotely justified. Though it's quite rich for American press to lie about "death camps" given how many Muslims we regularly help to or directly murder by the hundreds of thousands.
Let me be clear: I don't think China is perfect and wonderful in every way. They could afford to take a more Liberal approach towards speech and criticizing the government. But, especially in this moment in history, I'm not going to spend much time being upset about what China is up to from deep within the American BurgerReich
