Yeah, you raise an interesting point here, on my atomizer project, it is a ⌀24 mm base (smaller is not possible) that will fit most SBS mods on the market, and it will be possible to replace the wooden sleeve with a different diameter (and wood), e.g. 24 mm, 25 mm, 26 mm etc. to adapt perfectly to different mods

The airflow adjustment SS rings on the base can also be supplied in different diameters (and colors) to get exactly what you're looking for. That would be really great!

That's why I try to keep the wooden sleeve design as simple as possible.

I haven't been keeping up with the latest in atomizers since moving to boro mods but I should imagine you could find a 26-24mm beauty ring pretty easily! I haven't actually heard of 26mm mods so parsons might have to be the source of the beauty ring if its not a standard size.

All this recent 510 discussion is totally baffling, and mostly seems to have little to do with OT, or maybe it does and i just am too baffled to realize this....

I can say that anything to do with 510 devices is very hard to understand or learn about. All device websites and discussion here seems oriented towards folks who have been using such devices for many years, and almost as if intended to exclude any potential new customers from entering the market.

This is also true of desktop devices.

For those who don't know much about crack/freebase, you don't actually smoke either one. Both are volatilized by heating with butane torch lighters identical to those used for weed vapes.

Having seen folks smoke crack, and seen folks use butane vapes, they are exactly the same activity, with different drugs being volatilized by the torch. And obviously very different effects, because cocaine base and cannabis are not at all similar.

Everyone keeps telling me to bring a small camp stove when backpacking but IDK it's too much like smoking crack for my tastes. :/

Real talk, while the "it looks like a crack pipe" irks me; I sympathize with those who have had addiction to it, or those who have experienced others with the addiction. These devices can be very evocative, for good or ill, and it's reasonable to make usage decisions based on that.

I know people recovering from nitrous oxide addiction who ONLY want a bag vape like the volcano to get into dry herb vaping. They see it as an analogue experience to their addiction to provide a replacement.

Sometimes I like the types of vaporizers that replicate the feeling of smoking. For me, the "crack pipe" vaporizers give me that. I have no history or associations with crack smoking so they are suggestive of other things instead.

Recently I made a prototype top for my v3 Pro and realized I'd just made something very similar to my old favorite ecig tank. Sure enough, I was ripping it in the exact same way, and exhaling clouds was memorable. It was good for me, but others may choose to avoid.

We are in a golden age of portable dry herb vaporizers and it's good to choose what feels right.

Sad to say, this can be placed directly on the shoulders of Prohibition (or, more accurately, racism). A quick trip into Stoner Engineering subs can show you that materials sciences aren't at the forefront of most people's minds when they design things. Prohibition keeping information silo'd, as well as decades of devices sold with "not for use by humans" disclaimers has opened a huge space for disingenuous makers to just foist whatever on the market.

While ecig devices weren't always regulated fully, you had a user base that understood the damage they'd done by smoking, and wanted to avoid doing more damage. You also had the gross messiness of ejuice driving materials and designs that were both isolated and easily cleaned. Stuff like glass, stainless steel, and silicone/fluorine quickly rose to the top. That these are typically hard use devices drove away the lesser materials.

Why? we have lots of resources around here about 510 dry herb vapes, from the most basic all the way to the advanced, and we have an awesome community that can help as well. All the discussion about Limelite as a box mod manufacturer and the 510 connection itself is off-topic though.

Anyway, I think they are a very good option to someone who look for an instant on demand, full convection, fully cleanable* and don't afraid of a learning curve (and don't want to worry about warrenties, because if something's wrong, you just rebuild a new heater*).
Note that you can use most 510s either with watt mode or TC mode (probably using TCR), and that most 510 DHV are wooden based, so you'll have either full wood vapor path, or wood air path and glass vapor path, although some 510s does offer glass airpath (cosmic xtractor/splinter z,BakX)

*except of BakX, a conduction based 510 that's not instant on demand, full convection, and not sure about fully cleanable either.
