The problem with a “vortex” intercooler, for it to work as designed, needs to be SEALED in the stem, not loose, otherwise the vapor path is not forced through the spirals.

FROM SIMRELL SITE:

“The Vortex Stem’s durable, medical-grade titanium intercooler produces some of the coolest, smoothest vapor you can get, with even more airflow. Its spiral shape lengthens the vapor path and creates more surface area to cool the vapor before reaching your lips and filtering out bits from your material so you don't end up with Scooby snacks.”
I was wondering that but I figured either way it would act as a heat sink and absorb some of the heat before it went to your lips I would imagine?

I still think @LesPlenty has a good method also although the vapor path isn't extended necessarily it seems like the added mass from the glass reducer would keep things cooler. The problem with the factory WPA the glass is too thin and heats up too fast from what I'm noticing The vapor doesn't really mess with me Even on direct path just the glad gets hot on the lips so starting to think the reducer might be the cheapest fix for me in my scenario?

Going off of his statement that you posted I'm assuming if I get Scooby snacks on the coil that means it's doing its job And in some way messing with the vapor path?

Just got my Roffu and did 5-6 burn offs and then got down to business. And to say that I’m blown away would be a gross understatement. My god this has to be the best 99$ you can spend in the vaporizer market. I know this is just initial impressions but holy hell is this thing amazing. This is everything the pax ever wanted to be plus plus plus!!!! It outperforms my grasshopper and tinymight 1 by a fair margin. I do t currently have any other portables to compare it to but if it stays consistent I won’t need any more portables anyways. The wpa does actually work quite well and it pretty sturdy really but, I do have a design in mind for an all glass style wpa ala log vape or arizer type style. I just need to source the 13x1mm tubing they use for the heating unit. I’m having trouble finding it at my normal distributors. Once I do though it’ll be sweet. Plus it would downsize the units physical footprint while using it through water because you wouldn’t need the mouthpiece or cooling chamber housing. I’ve got the design down and when I find the tubing I’ll make it happen folks. Until then I’m gonna stay super ripped with this thing just because it’s just sooooo fun to use. Bravo xvape!!!

Personally, I didn’t find the glass stem in the WPA to get too hot, but I don’t run super high temperatures, or do many back to back pods. I believe the main intention of the WPA is to mate the silicone 14mm to a glass joint, on short 14mm joints, the glass stem may have to be removed. I bought a 2nd WPA if I want to go through water, while leaving the Evolve glass stem installed on the 1st WPA.

I don’t see how putting a 14mm-18mm joint adapter will add any cooling, as the silicone is what is MATING to the adapter, NOT the tiny glass WPA stem. The adapter is just a way to use it in 18mm water rigs. Doubt a ground glass adapter would feel very good in your lips, as a MP.

My stone brain was thinking that it would have a barrier of insulation from the thin walled glass stem therefore the thicker mass would take longer to heat up Plus it wouldn't be direct contact with the hotter thin glass.
As far as the feeling on lips doesn't bug me whenever I was using my V3 pro I always used it with the WPA never an issue for me personally. Definitely could see how that would bug some.

That was my thought process behind it but maybe it doesn't make sense?

I took my screen out I am just running glass on glass at this point with a WPA I always try to avoid any kind of silicone that I can so I removed the whole unit that hole is the screen since I'm using capsules but you warned it will have play and move back and forth but there will be some added noise with that bugs you? I don't think it's going to be a tremendous deal either way

Yeah this is the first time that came across this issue besides my enano log vape. I'm only a couple of bowels deep so I got plenty of adjusting to do but at this point in time I'll be starting around 380° f if not less and I got a full weekend of rainy days to sit at home and get baked and experiment
First full day with capsules and ss chamber out and about, very easy changing them out and getting them back into the storage cylinder. I had removed the screen from original mouthpiece, and had very smooth hits all day. Once I got home I realized that inside the mouthpiece was quite gunked up. I thought the top of the dosing cap would be good enough, I was obviously wrong. Has anyone tried different configurations with regards to the screen and glass vs ss? Has anyone used the dosing capsules with glass chamber? Both of my chambers fit nice and snug so no issue there. Thx in advance

Yes I just noticed the same thing it's only the V3 capsule that lets in all the stuff because they have larger holes The planet of the Vapes one capsule does not, The top screen is much finer.

Funny you mention that because I just did a test between the two same temperature same strain same puffs as much as I could keep it equal I did just for my own little personal test seems that the AVB is a shade less with the planet of the One capsule compared to the V3 pro. You could see the difference in the screens

V3 on the left, potv one one the right

PODS-CAPSULES for: XMax V3 Pro & XLUX Roffu

Pods never worked out for me in my various “convection” devices, but I do like the many benefits with my “conduction” devices, like S&B Mighty and Davinci IQ2.

That has changed as I’ve experimented with the Stainless Steel PODS, in my Roffu, they are the same ones used in the “XMax V3 Pro”.
In the Roffu, when using with the SS loading stem, (you remove the stem disc filter) the pods sit directly on the device’s heater. This adds a bunch of added heat conduction, and works best for me in all metrics, and all I use now.

I only have a couple of pods for my IQ2, and since I don’t use them often, I hand load them. For the Mighty, I bought the excellent loading tray from @Delta3DStudios . In my opinion based on real usage, his design is far superior to the S&B tray, and less expensive.

PROBLEM: with loading the ROFFU PODS, is how TINY they are.

SOLUTION: So, I’ve been in touch with Mike at Delta3DStudio, to make a NEW LOADING TRAY, designed for these pods. I will be mailing him a Roffu pod, so he can accurately design and build this for me and YOU!

Perhaps others have an interest in an easier way to load PODS, my Roffu Kit came with 2, that’s how I was able to experience them. Some of you may not be aware that you can contact Mike of Delta3DStudio via PM or email, and he will work with you on any potential ideas for new vape accessories that he may not have already created. I’ve bought many of his accessories for a wide range of vape devices and have never been disappointed, as well as fast shipping and excellent customer service, and his prices are extremely low.

***I will come back to this thread when the product is finished and available on his site, with a link.

NOTE:
I bought my PODS from:

COMING SOON……

I thought the top of the dosing cap would be good enough, I was obviously wrong.

I’m using the pods that came in a (5) pack from 420EDC, listed as V3/Roffu, the holes are a bit larger then then the (2) free pods that came with the “lite kit). I prefer them, but as you have read in my posts above, I’m using a vortex stem that can catch any small particles. When I played with the stock WPA DIRECT glass stem with pods, I left the MP grommet screen in place.

NOTE: If you are using a quality grinder, that can deliver CONSISTENT grinds, try a MEDIUM GRIND, that’s a major factor in how many tiny particles will get through any screen/filter. I’m currently using a BCG with MEDIUM grind plate. The humidity or lack of, is also another factor, DRY flower will create more particles…..

I think it will help with the heat on the lips from the unit, nothing to do with vapor temps.

I actually like the ground joints for mouthpieces myself, I use male to male joints in some bongs sealed in the mouthpiece with a slice of silicon hose.
Has anyone used the dosing capsules with glass chamber?
Yep, they work fine.
they have larger holes
You can always mount a fine mesh screen inside the lid of your capsules to catch more 'fines'

While possible, you may glean from many of my posts, I pursue simplicity. Using less items, increasing pleasure…
While the new loading tray will make filling much easier, cleaning the pods is a bit tedious, certainly don’t want to add screens.
Besides, with the Vortex type stems, I’m not using any screens anymore, even less to clean… :)

As far as ground glass feel in a mouth and lips, I’ll just call that “personal preference”.

It doesn't even bug me that much to be honest with you that I don't even mess with it I haven't had any go in my mouth worst case scenario they're going to get caught in the intercooler I have. I noticed even when I was running the mouthpiece screen and the capsule I would still get particles through it since they're both larger holes I do have a fine mesh screen but didn't even mess with it I did throw one on the bottom of a floor although just as a layer protection.

I'm a type of person that always cleans my vapes If not daily every other day I find it much easier just to do a quick wipe down More often than a full breakdown when really dirty.

What a nuisance - my edit didn't "take"😒. That last should read as follows: I'ma wait for Godot those other capsules another week or two. If nothing happens before end of year, I'm selling that bad boy.

Oooh I was just thinking how badly I need a capsule loader for the roffu. That looks great.

I don't get any gunk in my cooling chamber really. I bet a lot of it is session mode and letting vapor sit and condense in the pathways.

Still loving this roffu. On demand mode is still absolutely fulfilling, because I can take a single rip here and there. Believe it or not, I'm back to the original mouthpiece. It's just nice and a nicer experience than running through glass. Very compact package and cool vapor.

Still loath the button placement and 5 clicks on and off. Not good UX IMO.

That is a good point about the vapor sitting there building up. The stock mouthpiece is fantastic although I still prefer the WPA just because of the form factor not a fan of the duck lip the way you have to hold the device compared to a rounded style mouthpiece.

Overall the device is just amazing I'm very very pleased with it

A general query for those who have been happy with their Roffu; what does your heating element smell like when the CU and bowl is removed when doing a max temp burnoff?
Mine has had this burning hair/electronics smell, even after my 7th battery charge of burn offs(always waiting for it to cool to room temp after each session). I haven't been counting past a certain point, but that's probably at least 60 some burn offs I've done I think? It doesn't 'appear' to be offgassing anymore, but the smell is just about as strong as it used to be. I was wondering if it was the general smell of the unit just being 'hot', but the smell is definitely coming most prominently from the heater. I would expect a smell certainly, but this has been an unfriendly enough smell to keep me on my guard about using it.

I got my Roffu right when the black friday sale started on the site and got it that following monday—can't complain about the prompt service! I haven't used it yet because I was hoping the smell would lessen, but I'm starting to think the smell might never leave mine :\ My package did not have the smelly black foam that seemed like it was causing issues in earlier batches.

And on another note, is it normal for the mouthpiece to have an incomplete finish/glaze like this inside? I have no issue with it aesthetically (it's mostly on the inside as shown) but I can't help but wonder if that could potentially be a health issue. Figured I would ask just to be safe :)
(i apologize for the low aperture in regard to clarity; the far side is in alright focus at least)

I've been hyped af and have everything else cleaned multiple times over, but I really worry that the heating element might not be quite right on mine. (And on that note I def washed the silicone bits in dish soap as well @LesPlenty —will be a tricky endeavor to get those fragrances out haha)

Thank you for all input!

NO smell at all, only did a couple of burn offs.

Yes, cost savings, but I quickly switched to the new glass MP.

Had this issue when I cleaned a new Camelback bottle, with DAWN dish soap. The silicone MP had that soap taste, couldn’t get it out until I used BAKING SODA, on the silicone parts, give that a try.

No noticeable smells for me after a couple burn offs and the mp looks the same as mine, silicone I just rinsed in warm water and for cleaning I do quick wipe with ISO Q-tip or pad, then rinse with water. I’m immune to silicone taste/smell I think unless it’s really bad, SS and ti metal taste is what bothers me, but I think that’s in my head, reminds me of the dentist.

Some people are sensitive to the Kanthal heating element on the Roffu, especially at max temp (and other devices that use the same material), and that may be what you are experiencing. I think you get used to the Kanthal after a while. Try loading a bowl and vape at 180c/355f and see how you go.
60 some burn offs
That is a lot, definitely enough to be safe.

It is normal and safe.
Any advice on where to buy this device in EUROPE?
I would sign up to their newsletters and you may get a discount code eventually to get the unit even cheaper.

Ordered some of these to try out for the top mouthpiece screen replacement. Should just fit right in that groove on top of where the mouthpiece screen is. https://a.co/d/3m6d8n7
You will have to let us know if they fit as the Roffu disc filter you are replacing is 8.1mm or a bees dick over 5/16" wide, your 3/8" filters are 9.5mm. Hopefully a nice tight fit as my 8mm DDave jobs do have a tiny bit of wriggle room left to right in the silicon channel that retains it.

Also, found the Code SUPER gets a full Roffu kit (Onyx Grey model only) for just US$112,

I plan on setting it on top of the mouthpiece or the little groove is on the cooling unit above where the stock silicone piece goes. I'll try different configurations but it should definitely fit nice and good right there pretty much where the bottom of the glass WPA would hit if you're doing it right past in that little groove. There would be no more silicone just the screen

I hope it works, but I tried putting a mesh screen where I think you are talking about, but ended up not going through with it because I noticed a large gap between the top of the bowl and the hole where the screen is. I realized that the silicone gasket that the screen fits in fills in that space. So unless you use dosing caps, I think the herb will get sucked out of the bowl and get all over the inside of the CU. Either way, I think it will also cause a lot of the peek to be exposed to the heat.

I'd like to see a glass piece like the glass stems with bowls on the solo2 that can be both the bowl and the mouthpiece. I tried loading a solo stem and just pressing it against the heater. Worked like a charm! It was like holding a cig lighter to a joint. If they can make a CU that allows for a glass stem like that to be held in place over the heater, that would be perfect! It would be like a mini version of the TM2 (sort of). It would get rid of everything except for glass in the airpath, and make for super easy clean up. It could also maybe come with cooling balls in the stem. I'm about to order some ruby or other type of cooling beads to try in the current WPA mouthpiece.

Playing around… while the DV tip fits into the heater sleeve, it would be a pain to load and unload.
SneakyPete sells a one piece glass stem with bowl, that would eliminate the metal tip, but inconvenient access.
