Agreed Andor is okay ish, while I didn't even bother with the fantasy ones (cannot get interested in LotR again especially like this and GoT legacy is ruined for me now lol)...

The Peripheral is coming soon on Amazon from the creators of Westworld... and Pantheon on AMC (from creator of Turn) has been pretty intriguing, an animated drama!

Banshee was fun, the creator also did the first two seasons of Warrior, also if you enjoy it check out Jett (all on HBOmax)

While Andor is certified mids, I am enjoying it more than pretty much any other new Star Wars fare.

The thing is, I don't really care very much about Andor the character. He's fine, but. I'd watch an entire show about Stellan Skarsgard and Mon Mothma starting a terrorist organization to overthrow a fascist government. That shit's tight.

Not a TV show, but I don't see a movie thread. Maybe because TV has been dabbing all over The Movies for years now. But maybe, just maybe giving 1 billion dollars to James Cameron, The GOAT, will finally bring that Movie Magic™ back once and for all.

Can't wait to see more Space Viet Cong fucking up US Space Force Marines!

Haha I keep forgetting that is finally coming out, haven't been to the theaters in like 3 years and that feels like the way to see it...

I really thought we had a specific thread for discussing movies, but there is just this and the Netflix thread, while I could only find one for specifically horrible movies and this one:
So perhaps you should just make a new thread for more general movie discussion to include new and upcoming film releases??

That's because Movie Magic has been completely subsumed by TV lately. It remains to be seen if James Cameron can bring it back, but if anyone can do it...it's the GOAT.

Good idea! Though I just glanced at what's coming soon. It really is all coming down to Cameron to save movie theaters.

What's the worst that could happen?

Still think this is the best cold open on a TV drama.

Just caught up with Pennyworth and thought it was pretty good. Could not work out where I had seen the character Bet Sykes. She is Paloma Faith and has a great set of pipes on her...I keep waiting for her to say "Fooks Sake"
She is a good bad guy!

I don't follow this thread, but,
Last night I watched the next-to last episode of Westworld, just awesome plot development.

I was even unaware of the Season 4 (latest) until recently, so it's been great to binge up on it. But I learned about Season 4 in the article that said HBO has dropped them -- when they were actually planning the wrap-up for next year. So this kinda sucks, I don't know if anyone will pick it up and give it the funding it would need... too bad.
Shame, I was really only beginnig to understand wtf was really? going on!

I saw one quote something like, "Westworld has given us one awesome Season (1) and one great one (4)."

Haha I watched season 1 and she was the best part, also knew her from singing previously, I had not been motivated to watch season 2 or season 3 yet, but I'm sure they'll find good stuff to go on (same creators of Gotham and the Mentalist and Rome)

Yeah it's been a trip, the way they built the world outside of the parks, the story can get confusing, though it is always interesting, the production is incredible (I love the docu aftershow they do, Creating Westworld's Reality)

There's zero chance it can be saved, HBO canceled it under the new Warner Bros Discovery ownership (they are ruining the whole company) and it is because it is so expensive and does not have the big ratings it began with... Even though they had planned to wrap everything up with a fifth season and had deals where the main cast gets paid regardless of it getting made (so they felt it was worthwhile to pay the cast but not make the show, having the show made wouldn't be enough of a return on the investment so they think it was more worthwhile to pay what they could and cut their losses, they have no respect for the artists or the actual fans at all)

The creators have a new show on Amazon called the peripheral, they have a deal with Amazon so they will have more shows there, the days of having creative freedom with big budgets at HBO are gone...

Saw the first episode of a new 1880s Western that Amazon just dropped called "The English" about an English woman who came to America to find her sons killer. Stars Emily Blunt. Looks like it could be a decent series. First season drop was only 6 episodes.

It is interesting to me to see so many series about this time period...

Oh cool, I remember reading about that one being made, but it didn't have a title yet then! There are quite a few more shows in this time period coming (Amazon Freevee is doing a comedy version lol) I'm going to check this one out, thanks!

I just watched season 1 of the White Lotus and really enjoyed it. Now catching up on season 2. I don’t think I’ve seen Michael Imperioli act in anything since the Sopranos.

Yeah it is fun right, well done all around, started two episodes of season 2 yesterday, speaking of Michael Imperoli though, you should watch This Fool on Hulu, he has a small role that does more later in the season, but it's a hilarious show!

I love Patriot on Prime. Just started a rewatch. It's an excellent critique of hierarchical structures (on several levels) in human relations/society. The series treads the line between satire and seriousness in such an erratic manner that it is often challenging the viewer to consider how to interpret what's happening. And while I imagine that sounds like pretentious effort demanding shit, it's actually lighthearted and filled with laughs.

Hey bud, quoting you here, because it is an Amazon prime show, and you posted in the Netflix thread... Yeah Patriot is great, I've been thinking about a rewatch if only there was not so much else on TV for me to watch haha the creator had another great offbeat show, called perpetual grace ltd (only got one season on epix) and another in stop motion called ultra city smiths on AMC+

OMG, guys, there is a new show on Netflix called "Wednesday". It is an Addams Family live action spinoff that features the daughter Wednesday. It is GREAT. Besides finding a very cute unknown to me actress to play Wednesday, Jena Ortega (obviously not unknown to others) they are doin a fine job with story lines and general creativity. And Thing has a major role. I am truly loving it.
While choosing Catherine Zita Jones to play Morticia was masterful, I wasn't sure about her character at first, but it got better as it went on. Ortega in particular makes the show for me. And wait till you see her dance...

Eight episode season that drops at once is too short. I have 2 episodes left and don't want to watch them yet so I can savor them. Way too hard to wait for the next season, but I really think this is gonna be a winner.

Curious, do you know many of the young actresses at this age?? :p I actually had heard of her from something else lol but it's not like they were going to cast Christina Ricci again (though she does cameo!) I actually haven't watched it yet, though I did see that dance clip haha naturally it is a Tim Burton production  looking forward to it

Slow Horses has returned! I enjoyed the first season very much and I'm a big sucker for Gary Oldman.

Yesss great show, I don't remember if the same showrunner Graham Yost (I really like him from his work on Justified) returned for season 2 but I'm sure it will be great... I am so behind on so much TV now though!

On Apple we're midway through Bad Sisters (also great), Acapulco season 2 (delightful) and Mythic Quest season 3 (silly fun lol)

No, I really don't. After looking her up I saw that she has worked a lot, but generally not on shows I would be drawn to. I find her acting quite enjoyable. I also like it when actors appear as different characters on updated spin offs and LOVE that Christina Ricci (who I often mistake for Winona Rider, possibly because of Beetlejuice) is in the show. I didn't even recognize her in her character in "Wednesday" until looking up the cast. And FYI, she is a regular cast member, not just a cameo.

This show has been loads of fun for me. Highly recommended.

Haha yeah I was just teasing, I wouldn't expect you to know young actors like that even if they are relatively well known, I may be confusing her with someone else, but I think Jenni was even a singer maybe?? Ah yeah forgot she was full cast, Ricci is also really good in yellowjackets of course

So, I finished 'Wednesday' sadly (because I want more) and I was watching an interview with Ortega where when talking about Ricci she says "Every time I hear 'Moonchild' by King Crimson I think of her" and I'm like, wait, you are 20, what are you doing listening to King Crimson? So I google Christina Ricci and Moonchild and I come up with a clip from a movie called 'Buffalo 66' from 98 that I have never heard of where Ricci is Tap Dancing in a very alluring way to the song on a bowling alley. So now I have to see this movie...
