The WOODEN Vaporizer Thread

How often do y'all wax/oil your wood?

And what products would you recommend?
My go-to is Ed's TnT Bomb Ass Butter. I use it on all my wood devices. Doug's Woodery also sells a balm that's interesting because you heat it up before putting it on (probably due to more beeswax vs. oil in the mix). I did like the results with that one, but found the process to be a little bit of a chore compared to Ed's butter.

I use the Karelian Birch DLXs the most, especially the One. The Dreamwoods are just great all around, and the Piro is pretty much essential gear as well. No real complaints about the rest though some are easier than others.
What’s the difference between all the DLX? I only see the Pro and the pipe available right now. Worth waiting for a one or should I try the pro?

What's the key difference between the Piro and the Noisy Cricket, in your experience? Sorry to yank your chain BTW - the Venn of people with both, whose opinions I respect is not huge

I don't have the cricket, have DLXM, but the difference is in that regard are apparent? Piro is more like the DLXone and knotty topper, you used 18 mm male glass as your bowl connection, also very unique in that you point the flame directly up with its heat intake... Cricket would have a larger wider bowl, though more stirring required I think, and a bit more technique in my experience with the DLXM at least... Piro it's really great and simple for those one hitter basketball extractions just like DLXone should be, although different flame intake style, and the knotty topper I believe incorporates a larger wider glass bowl more like the cricket?

The Pro is joined by a ring, the M by a magnet (in this case it's a ring and a magnet), and the Ones are a friction fit usually on an 18mm male joint. I don't think you'd be disappointed with a Pro because it's all-around excellent, but there's something about that friction fit and convertible bowl that just feel so handy. To me it feels like the quickest, easiest vape I own. The Pro is probably my next most used (along with the Piro).

The NC has a large bowl, nice even roast, is very easy to use, and has a short profile, which makes it my go-to for smaller glassware since you can keep the intake within your field of vision. Its only downside is shared by all 3 of my OWW torch vapes: torching chars the wood lightly beneath the intake. Functionally speaking, it makes no difference and any resulting flavor lessens after the initial charring, but it's a weird quirk. NOT a reason not to get one (think pure Vapman)!

The Piro is outstanding for smaller water pieces that even the NC is too tall for: the unique orientation of the intake is perfect for too-close torching. I think this alone justifies having one, with the caveat that it's difficult to use on a tall bong that puts the intake too far below your eyes. Their overall function is among the best of any vape I've ever used. Perfect, even roast every time; tiny learning curve, very forgiving, and endlessly adjustable in terms of heating. Because it sits on a joint, the bowl is two-in-one, and the basket screen is great for small-dosing.

You really can''t go wrong with either, though generally the NC would hold more herbs at a time, the Piro perfect for smaller pieces other vapes can't be torched on.

Yeah one thing I really like about the piro is I got a torch that is vertical facing up so it is super easy to aim and use consistently for me (something I struggle with in the others)

Yeah, i like just the whole concept of the whip end being reshaped to perfection, the awesome little wooden cages, that artwork, the price, the ease, and just because of the form itself you get the power and flavor of any torch vape. Hard not to love it!
