Enjoy. Had mine since the founders edition and it still feels like the honeymoon period. Still an absolute joy to use.
As a founder like you, I feel exactly the same.
I know we’re all familiar with the honeymoon period with a new vape, but sometimes you just know right away that this ones going to be a keeper and a keeper it is!
I knew it at my first bowl ! it's confirmed day after day

Wonder why no Sunday Evening Post this week...find myself looking forward to them
Usually it’s happened in the past just before something comes out, or during a public holiday that John has taken.

I also enjoy reading them, they’re usually very interesting and informative. Hopefully the next one will talk about IH or the helix bowl

He has been dissing the Anvil on some of his web casts prior to it coming out so I doubt it.
He is heavily affiliated with dynavap. Don't think he will get on board. A solution would be some kind of master adaptor from John that opens up Dyna stems.

From Dynavap and Simrells instant response to the Anvil in the FMJ, we can read that Dynavap see Vestratto as a threat, as opposed to a player they would like to help, or work with.

If you look back in the thread, he did initially adapt the MVS to anvil. He also works with other vapes like the Vapman. It’s all been quiet since then though which makes me wonder why. I agree that any move to bridge the gap will have to be made by John now

John then saw the FMJ as a threat though, if you remember that infamous Sunday Post and the complaints about it on here.

I do feel that John has listened and become a lot more open minded since then - the tone of the Sunday posts has really changed for the better and I love that Vestratto now seem happy to compromise on certain things and roll with the punches a bit more. DV not so much.. they’re still mostly moving sideways and wondering why some guy has lapped them in less than a year on the market ;)

Nokia made 22 billion last year so IDK that “ended” is the right term. 😅
That’s peanuts compared to what they could’ve been earning though, the company didn’t end but their dominance sure as hell did ;)

I still remember almost everyone in the UK having a Nokia from ‘98-‘06, it was even more popular than the iPhone is now. Blackberry too, they were absolutely huge here due to BBM being the WhatsApp of the day.

I still remember that video of Steve Ballmer laughing off the iPhone back then, so many people just didn’t “get it” at the time and were happier to rest on their laurels

Well hindsight is always 20/20, Apple was on the brink of bankruptcy before the iPod came out so you never quite know how things will pan out. I mean, think of how many people even owned an Apple product in 2000 (ipod came out in 2001) compared to today where everyone on campus has a watch, phone, pad, and laptop.

I worked at Apple and to this day the phones are still basically the same as when I was there. I had an iPhone 4 for over a decade as even then there wasn't much incentive to upgrade.

Still, I say if 22B is peanuts then the game is rigged anyways

Nokia had smartphones out before the iPhone, my uncle had one that opened in half to a full length keyboard. You could make powerpoint presentations on the damn thing.

The phone thing is an interesting framework though as almost all the successful companies basically "failed."

Can put Nokia right next to Motorola, Siemens, Palm, Blackberry, etc.

And Samsung became the #1 seller in the world having not even been on the radar for cell phones before the Galaxy series.

The phone analogy is also a bit silly because a smart phone can do everything the "dumbphone" can do, and then some.

The anvil serves a very different use case from the VC and both have features the other does not have. I'm not going to step outside a bar for a quick hit with the anvil. It's just too long a heatup/cooldown time. Likewise you won't get the same kind of milk on a VC as with an anvil because the mass is just that much less. I fail to see how either eliminates the other unless you have a heavy preference towards one type of use.

As a tech fanatic and a bit of an Apple historian, the near bankruptcy was during the John Sculley era. The resurgence started when Apple purchased NEXT and Steve Jobs returned - they cut a lot of product lines and introduced that coloured translucent iMac (remember that bad boy?) which made the Mac seem friendly and fun in comparison to the beige boxes of the day. The guy was a total ass but he just “got it” in a way that suits with spreadsheets don’t seem to

The iPod was inarguably the start of “modern apple” and became ubiquitous practically overnight. Such a great product - people forget how iconic those flowing white headphones were and the cultural impact it had

I’d have to disagree a little, if we’re talking performance. The 4s came a year later with exactly double the CPU cores and a GPU that was 5x more powerful. The iPhone 5 came a year after that with similar leaps. The 5s a year later with 64bit processing. Benchmarks were always exciting to see back then, and talking about the rapidly diminishing gap between ARM CPU’s and x86 CPU’s. I think it was around 2014-15 that moores law caught up with smartphone development. If you mean user experience I’d definitely agree though, there’s not been a real paradigm shift in a long time now.

Nokia had smartphones out before the iPhone, my uncle had one that opened in half to a full length keyboard. You could make powerpoint presentations on the damn thing.

Correct, in fact many companies did. Windows mobile was a very well established thing way before the iPhone. What Apple realised was quite simple in hindsight.. they were complex in use and only really sold well to business people (out of necessity) and tech hobbyists. I always like to make the distinction that Apple didn’t create the concept of a smart phone, they just made it attractive to the average consumer and thereby unlocked that market

And Samsung became the #1 seller in the world having not even been on the radar for cell phones before the Galaxy series.

The Galaxy S that was, it ran a re skinned version of Android FroYo that looked an awful lot like iOS.. was such a great little phone for the time. I remember it very fondly. Those gaudy AMOLED colours that made the iPhone screen look dull in comparison, and it was actually a bit more powerful too

Yeah, that Sunday Post from John may have poisoned the well there. Totally unnecessary, a poor choice of tone and may have killed whatever goodwill there may have been between Vestratto and the DV world. Unfortunate.

That Sunday Post is going to the point where we can see the DV community and a lot of the outer DHV community became alienated from John and Vestratto. So much bad flak from Reddit because of it, that along with the whole situation involving Planet Haze didn't exactly warm the community up. Torpedoed any chance we get of a Simrell collab, or with a lot of the other DV adjacent content/accessory creators.

That along with the rabidly dedicated fanbase kind of turned me off from participating in this community. I used to be a pretty active member of the discord and this specific thread. But Jesus, the tribalism is strong. Also doesn't help that since I got my (third) anvil it seems like every new iteration or slight tweak is just a new chance to be nickel and dimed, especially with that insane shipping $.

Also some weird oversights. XL mouthpiece launching much earlier than the case extender. Then him "giving" it to us for "free" with a $50 purchase after we already dropped $ on the mouthpiece itself.

Yeah, at some points, despite Anvil being one of my favorite vapes with lots of interesting potential new directions, this has also been one of my least favorite FC threads. Let's hope the worst is behind us.

And oof I am tired of that $25 shipping to US, even for smallest of items. Lets get these to Sneaky Pete, Vgoogiez, etc. based in the US.

I mean I’ve been quite vocal in my criticism of John and Vestratto to the point I’ve definitely irritated a few people, so I’m certainly not afraid to go against the grain. It’s just internet points after all. With that being said I also give credit where it is due, independent of my personal views.

John and Vestratto have certainly had their issues and head scratchers, but I genuinely believe that things are getting better. The previous cult like atmosphere on this thread has been replaced by a much fairer and kinder one. The quality of discussion is now higher as a result. John has a much nicer and wiser tone in his posts, and I think these last few months have taught him a lot about an industry he was totally new to. He is looking to bridge the gap and open up the anvil to third party creations. Most importantly for me, this is all on top of getting better at communicating important information and product developments via the Sunday post instead of using it as a diary

I’d be careful taking Reddit's opinion on anything as worth listening to, the karma system incentivises this weird game of follow the leader which often ignores the objectivity of a given situation and seeks to enforce a “company line”. A lot of the critiques I’ve seen of John and the Anvil on there have been light on facts and high in salt ;)

I absolutely love my anvil, yet have complicated views on vestratto. I think it’s important not to choose a camp and stay there though, things are always changing and we should be ready to do the same in reaction

Very well put. For operations like Vestratto there is certainly a learning curve and there are going to be bumps along the way. The vape itself remains a stunner and I get a tinkering vibe from John so interested to see what else besides the IH may be on the way.

This is exactly how I see it, the past is the past but the present and future are pretty exciting right now.

If vestratto keep learning and improving there’s a lot I’m willing to forgive and forget. The forget part is mainly due to the anvil though

Glad I missed most of the drama lol. I don't think anything too fucked up happened though. I mean I also buy vape shit with manufacturing in places with poor workers' rights, I find that's a bit more troubling than an emotionally sent newsletter (no claiming Anvil production chain is free of that, but for the sake of argument let's say it is). What matters To me the most is the device and it has come in daily rotation from day 1. Nothing quite hits like the Anvil, not that I know of, and the quick extraction gives such a nice high

Yeah it wasn’t as bad as some make out really, and in some ways it feels kind of cool to have been part of the story from the beginning and experienced it all first hand. I’ll always have one of the first Anvils in my country (got the second round of UE waitlist drops) which is cool to me and only me around here

The thing is, the anvil absolutely nailed the performance from that very first video of @Whiff ripping it. Every anvil sold since performs every bit as great as those advertising ones. When you get it so right straight out of the gate it inevitably causes a stir and a lot of people looking over
