The Nomad From Morwood

Are there any in depth reviews from anyone other than Troy? No offense to him but he's (admittedly) barely used his nomad and I just want the thoughts of someone who's mastered theirs. Plus, it's another way to live vicariously while I await my own nomad
Plenty of text ones in this thread. Unfortunately I dont have an easy way to find them for you. Could try and search ‘review’ but search here isn’t the best. You could read the whole thread, more fun than it sounds.

Reading the thread is very fun.

Usually if I'm looking for something here, I'll use Google and just do fuckcombustion.com + search term. Sometimes that gets me better results

I have gone through the entire thread a few times while waiting for my Nomad. I confirm it's worth it. It was quite a journey from the idea of the Nomad, through prototypes, Nomad 1, and finally to the Nomad 2. This is the vape with the most thought behind it, IMO. This should be how product development is done.

It really is great to get to see however many years of Dans hard work and creativity told and shown chronological through his threads. I love even the first few pages where its just concepts, sketches, moods, dreams and ideas. And slowly it evolves off the paper, then slowly prototypes iterate, and on and on from there.

Plus its not just Dan in isolation, but the communities impact as well.

Hopefully this site stays up for a while, or forever, the history is neat and rich.

I always love the grain on the darker woods being revealed by the angle of the light. It's so elegant.

I was also curious. How many nomads are in these next 2 batches?

Hey everybody, I'm new to the thread but I've been following for years! I've been on the wait list since 6/2019, are people actually waiting three years to be contacted or am I missing something?

No, you’re not missing anything. If you look through the thread you can see some of the design process and pictures of the units. The photos should make it evident they aren’t mass produced or something the maker knocks out in an hour—it’s one guy making them by hand.

I’m sure Dan would be happy to add you to the list if you’re interested, but it’s no exaggeration that the wait will be on the order of years. There are lots of less bespoke vapes that still produce excellent vapor, though. Look around a bit or post in the “AskFC” section and folks will point you to lots of options.

Edit: oh, totally missed that you were on the list! Yeah couldn’t tell you exact length. Maybe shoot Dan an email?

The wait has been long for some of us, and I would be prepared for a long wait, but I do think that as Dan finishes off the last of the lingering Nomads and can focus on current batches of Nomad IIs and Toads the wait time should lessen quite a bit. I know he’s worked out better methods of doing a lot of things which should help too.

Still, while these are my top overall portable designs, to avoid frustration/anger/conflict I would recommend people who know they’d be upset with a long wait look elsewhere or keep an eye out for the rare used unit to pop up!

For anyone who can take the wait though, I don’t think there’s another vaporizer out there that compares as a functional piece of art, and in my opinion the size and well thought out design are still among the best out there too. :)

I may have had one of the longest waits, and I still consider these well worth waiting for!

How long did you wait for your Nomad? I'm fine with a long wait, I love the concept enough that I'll drop money on it whenever I get the chance. My 3+ year seems longer than what many others are experiencing, but I may just not have the right understanding of the process.

I am sure you could check with Dan to see which batch you are in.

That's a good idea, just reached out to him via email. Last I heard, he suspected I would most likely be in Batch 2-3 for the Nomad I. I know that changed when he started on the Nomad II but I'm not sure how that converts. Either way, I hope to hear from him soon!

African Blackwood is by far my favorite wood for a lot of reasons: hard, dense, heavy, beautiful deep dark grain, oily enough on its own that it shouldn't even need waxing/oiling in most cases, very resistant to humidity changes (unlike actual "ebony" wood which ends up cracking), it will take abuse/drops/heat without issues as well. It's really unmatched as far as I know.

I have a Nomad coming in Batch II made entirely out of blackwood, and I can't wait to get it. I think it's going to look stunning. I even picked a blackwood stem to match the look.

I love what you wrote here...especially the part where you speak of it as art. This is a beautiful piece...and you are right it is stunning and nothing visually compares as far as I am concerned. If it is functional and super as you say and I assume that its spectacular in function...The Nomad 2-that would be the only thing I need on my shelf. It is gorgeous!!!!!!!! Its not bulky with any stupid designs...its elegant with the finest wood work. I am excited about being on the list. I just hope I am still alive.

The guys is a master craftsman!!!!!!! He seems to love what he does, excels at it, gets paid for it, and has integrity!!!! There's really nothing to dispute. I've been on the wait list for 2+ years and it doesn't bother me one bit. I can get high, enjoy what I have, and some day get a surprise email that it's time to order. Until then, I'll admire everyone's Nomad and keep getting ideas on what my Ideal piece will look like and someday place my order. Until them, I'll be in admiration of everyone fortunate to post their new Nomad!
